Literally just watched the final episode today and well....what can I say? Clearly I'm late to the party, but my colleague was pushing and pushing saying it was so good, and damn it she was right.

I found the first few episodes a challenge, but I'm glad I kept going (for fear of the colleague nagging me more!)

It has so much heart. And it's just so wonderful. And I'm really glad they didn't chase the ££££ and keep going til it got schitt.

I was late to the party too. Not sure why I didn't watch when it first came out, I think it was the music on trailers made me think it was going to be one of those try hard, not funny shows. How wrong was I. It was SO good and I took to it after the 1st episode. It was very funny and sad bits too. David was my absolute favourite, I love his character, his facial expressions said it all, his one liners were hilarious. Moira's wigs (her girls) and accent just brilliant, wasn't mad about the hand movements with Alexis, too exergerated. My favourite out of the whole thing was David and Patrick and simply the best ❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍

Enthusedeggplant · 13/08/2023 22:37

La La La Lala a little bit Alexis😂🥰

Fireblanket · 13/08/2023 22:38

I love the scenes, especially in the early series, between David and Stevie. By the end of the scenes you can see them very nearly start to laugh and I wonder how many takes there must have been! I imagine there would be such chemistry on set; so much laughter.

stonkytonk11 · 13/08/2023 22:42

It's the best show and so many hilarious moments. Fold the cheese js brilliant and I loved the episode with the tween 'Bebe' when they run over the cat. The twist with Twyla is so clever and the scene where Alexis and Ted break up is so beautiful.

There is a brilliant hard back book that goes really in-depth into the series that I got for Christmas one year, it's great.

BiologicalKitty · 13/08/2023 22:43

This show is adorable. Utterly.

I especially related to the David and Patrick storyline, Patrick's coming out experience was similar to mine and lovely to see play out on TV.

CrazyArmadilloLady · 13/08/2023 22:47

Adore this show - my best friend nagged and nagged me to watch it, and I’m so glad I did - and persevered past the first few episode.

I nagged and nagged my brother and his husband to watch it - I knew they hadn’t, because as soon as they did, I knew they’d be talking to me about it aaaaallllllll the time. Then eventually they watched it, and fell completely in love.

Moira is good at heart, though. Her words to Stevie on the opening night of Cabaret 🩷

CrazyArmadilloLady · 13/08/2023 22:54

David: “It’s just a long string of very bad luck. And I don’t know what kind of carnage I inflicted in a past life to deserve it. I must have been Dracula. Or … a spin instructor.” 🤣

I'm rewatching and finding it slower going in series 4 (the start of the Patrick episodes), the pauses between everyone's utterances (David/Stevie/Alexis) get a bit much. But I love love love this show.

Twyla is another Levy so Dan Levy's sister and Eugene's daughter! She looks like David so much facially but with different make up and hair. It's so obvious when you can see it but fantastically managed in the series, Dan and Sarah are never in the same shot.

We've just watched the episode where Dan is celebrating his boutique job with Steph. Twyla took their order and served them bubbles.

stepfordwifey · 13/08/2023 23:02

Stevie not Steph!

CrazyArmadilloLady · 13/08/2023 23:06

Yes, there are definitely scenes with both David and Twyla in them - they speak in some scenes.

notthebestideas · 14/08/2023 12:27

It's worth watching just for Moira's amazing dress sense!

I'm confused, why wouldn't there be?

toomuchlaundry · 14/08/2023 21:55

@cushioncovers because you might see the family resemblance

@cushioncovers - this post says they weren’t in the same shot. But that’s not my recollection at all.

cushioncovers · 14/08/2023 22:55

Ah I see thanks.

Msbluebozooka · 14/08/2023 22:58

DrDaedalus · 14/08/2023 23:12

I love it so much. It was a lockdown hit in our house.

My sister could not get into it an gave up.

My second fave series of all time after Better Things.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 14/08/2023 23:21

It’s just joyous, isn’t it?

“It’s alright. It’s his sister!” Makes me laugh every time.

Ha! We have just watched this episode with the DC tonight. They’re all so brilliantly humanly odd.

BingoLingFucker · 14/08/2023 23:33

I love SC, one of the shows I can watch over and over!

TheChosenTwo · 14/08/2023 23:38

Started and failed with this at least 3 times and then just gave it a really good crack a month ago and had watched the whole thing within a week, fell in love with it all.
Ronnie was one of my background favourites but loved Jonny and Alexis so much, the scene when he thought she was pregnant and she went into the conversation thinking it was about her courses.
and I cried laughing when they unveiled the Christmas tree and it all fell to bits and was scorched!
And alexis’s puzzled faces when her dad was freaking out about her ordering so much raw milk 😂 just loved the whole thing, such a joy to watch.

CoveredWindows · 14/08/2023 23:38

It’s so good

gotthearse · 14/08/2023 23:40

I binged it when having a bad time. Helped me recover. I also ended up buying a national trust throw, some loungewear and a penhalligons scent library.

ThisWormHasTurned · 14/08/2023 23:43

I LOVE this show. I started watching it a while after it came on to Interflix and then watched as each season was released. I cry at the end every time. It’s so beautifully done. It’s very cringe in places and yet manages to be so heart warming!
DP had never seen it so I persuaded him to watch it with me, he loved it too! We use a lot of the GIFs, especially ‘Fold the cheese’, Alexis saying ‘Yum’ when she’s face timing Ted, ‘Bebe’ 😂
I love the ending. They could have dragged it out but it was just right. Still funny, showed so much character development. Even Moira did develop - she was prepared to give up on her career and then it all started again, but she knew her worth this time round. I just love it!

mummybongo · 15/08/2023 08:16

When David ran away and they found him in that field is one of my favourite bits 🤣
