I agree. Craig is the "panto villain" of the team, but he is very often the voice of reason. I like him.
I like the contestants this year but sadly I feel that Layton is going to grate on people (or, at least, me). But perhaps that might be a deliberate 'casting' choice?
John Waite wasn't being particularly fair to his partner or Johannes with his comments about being in love, assuming they didn't know what he was going to say. It's easy to see how the Strictly curse works though, it's the same for acting. I remember back in the 1990s, Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle were a couple for a while after filming Pride and Prejudice for the BBC. One of them (I think it was Colin) said "Acting is very conducive to falling in love". And it does happen, many many times over. Johannes must have been strong to have achieved all he has in his life so far, but there does seem to be a vulnerability about him that's made me annoyed at John Waite for talking about their partnership.
I've done a bit of acting in my time and it's a strange old thing. You are so close with your fellow cast members and crew, working and existing as such a tight unit, revolving around each other, sometimes acting out intense emotions, and then the last night is over, the set is struck and that's it. Very strange. I wonder how many Strictly partnerships have gone on to be actual lasting friendships? Does Graziano still go out for a chippy tea with Kym Marsh's family? Does Jowita tag along to the bird hides with Hamza? Working so closely and intensely with someone for all that time and then it suddenly stopping altogether one week. It's almost like a mini-bereavement.
