My favourite show, I see it’s back on Monday on W, it’s going to be very strange watching this series knowing Jock has passed away. I really liked him.

Aww I liked Ralph! He knew it didn’t go to plan but was shocked when they said someone did every element wrong and then utterly broken when they said his name. I don’t think they needed to crush him so much, they usually don’t mention everything that went wrong.
Although obviously I’m just bitter everything went right for Malissa…

Also, anyone else confused at the “beauty” of that dish (Mr McGregor’s garden?), I thought it looked like somone emptied their food compost bin on a plate!

I totally agree. It bore no resemblance to anything Beatrix Potter ever drew and seemed unoriginal, naff and dated

Can't believe Selma & Patty (aka Rhiannon & Kath) are still in. They do my head in. Rhiannon more than Kath.

Has anyone else noticed how thin Jock is looking? Especially in the beige coloured suit from a few nights ago. That suit made him look ill. ☹️

Yes. Me and DH have commented that he looked unwell.

I still can't believe jock is gone. But I agree he's not been looking well.

Someone upthread mentioned they do something for him at the end of series. I know I'm going to cry.

This thread popped up on my feed. I wasn't sure I wanted to watch this season and I haven't. Just too upsetting about Jock, and I'm not normally the type to get emotional about someone I don't know.

Just joining late as I'm a big fan. Like everyone else, found watching it knowing that Jock isn't here anymore was pretty devastating.

I am NOT joining the Declan love though. I like him at first. Now he just irritates me. And quite frankly, his "red" food - BARELY red. For whatever reason, they love him and are pushing him through. I mean, he might seem sweet but he's also pretty dumb - the secret team challenge where he decided to cook Chinese food against a team from a Chinese restaurant.... when neither of his teammates have ever done anything even vaguely Chinese? Come on. that's just stupid and he should have been lambasted for it.

Must as I like Brent, and was sad when he exited his season, I do feel he's got a bit of an unfair advantage here having got quite far in the competition in his original season. It's inevitably evening up now as they are all getting better, but the first few rounds frankly... there was no way he could lose.

I'm really enjoying this series. They seem to have cut down to the last 8 pretty quickly this time - did they start with a smaller number?

I wonder if Shannon will be the new judge next year? I think he'd be a good addition.

I think they have less episodes tho eom previously used to be bout 60 this time it's 50. I thought they were going through them quite quickly too

I've never posted on these threads despite being the BIGGEST MasterChef Australia fan ever. (If I could only watch one TV programme for the rest of my life, this would be it.)

I'm mostly managing to forget about Jock whilst in the middle of an episode but it then smacks me round the face and I'm genuinely devastated all over again (another one, like a PP, who is really affected by a celebrity death). He does look unwell often though. So unbelievably sad.

I love, love, love Brent (did last year too) and am a fan of Theo. Adi was super annoying, as is Malissa. Rue is growing on me but she's not a contender. Cath is like a sit com character (if she says waaaaaaow one more time....), Rhiannon has probably grown the most and Declan appears either supremely naturally talented or completely out of his depth with me having no idea which way he'll go!

It's definitely a shorter run, both in episode lengths (no masterclasses yet?) and in the amount of time it's taken to get to this stage but have they always had Friday episodes?.

Looking forward to getting all my jobs done and heading up to bed for my favourite hour of the day.

There's a rumour they have offered it to Jamie Oliver. I'm hoping it's Shannon.

If they had to have either George, Matt or Gary back from the original lineup, who would you choose? I think I'd have to rule out Matt as with Mel, that would be 2 non chefs so for me I'd pick Gary. He was so lovely and great on the service challenges.

Jamie Oliver... I do hope not. He'd make it feel/seem like it was all about him.

He had done several "train people up" shows and had just announced closing his London restaurant.

It is sad when you think of jock or maybe senseless waste. I think any tribute should have been shown at the start of the series but maybe that revealed the winner. Bit something should have been included as not everyone watching will know at this point.

If I had to guess right now I would say male final 3.

That made me snort, hilarious!

I don't really like any of them but don't vehemently dislike any either. Brent is really good but I can't stand the ginger bushy beard and back-to-front baseball cap. Ditto Theo on the headgear. Don't like Malissa much, nor Rue, Cath and Rhiannon as above and Brent and Theo. That leaves only Declan 🤷‍♀️

Just watched last nights, why why why did Brent do that?! Surely clever thing to do is at least get to tasting in round 1, cleverest thing to do would have been using anything and everything he wanted to cook for 89 minutes, because even someone who can’t cook a good dessert has a good chance against someone else on a fraction of the time and ingredients

Yeah, I am coming to.feel that my theory that declan is really dumb isn't true - its more just that he has an astonishingly high risk tolerance level.

Brent on the other hand.... I think he's brilliant but first the tomato selection and then yesterdays pin?! What was that about? And it actually makes me concerned that the pressure is getting to him again.

I watched it when it was shown love and there was something before the first episode.
And there is a tribute at the end of the last episode.

Just watched last nights and that was a really terrible/weird edit. I don’t know if it was edited that way to start with or if it was cut badly for W, but it was like an elimination edit, they focussed on the 3 bad ones, the 2 good ones barely had any screen time - I don’t think Declan even got asked what he was making until over half way through the ep.

Relatedly, at top 5 I feel like normal series they’re better at this point - anyone else feel like on the whole they’re not as good as normal?

I'm just watching the most recent episode and have come on to say... I am embarrassed by this but I find Curtis Stone astonishingly attractive. Is it just me!?
