Agreed - Maya jama has the right personality and demeanour for this role and has been overwhelmingly supported by fans who she is an improvement upon the last . Very few people miss Laura lol I actually felt bad for her on Twitter every year everyone would slate her wooden style and challenged certain questions she asked which they thought was rude .

Maya may make a few minor errors but it doesn’t take away from anything really.

Yeah she’s not a great role model based on how much she took from sammy and I don’t feel she even made genuine friendships in there.

Jess is very much a don’t rock tne boat kind of girl. She was even playing both sides with Ella and Whitney and tbh not sure she likes either of them despite acting like she does.

I think liberty from a couple of years ago was more of a role model when she walked away from “but you’re my girlfriend” Jake before the finals

I think if Jess were slimmer, had been more popular with the boys and had a bit more self esteem a certain demographic wouldn’t have warmed to her so much.

Wow...Ella's fa e when announced she was 3rd - she really thought they had won it. So glad they didn't - she didn't smile once and the way he spoke to people, not just women. I'd have been happy with sammy and Jess or Whitney and Lochranza to win

Btw I think the body diversity is great and I’m glad her being a bit curvier than most love islanders worked in her favour so I’m not criticising her weight. She is of a similar size to me but she’s taller so carries it better!
I’m just saying it was one more thing that made her more “relatable” to the kind of women who supported her.

I feel someone like molly in comparison intimidated some as she came across too “perfect” and popular with the boys, Ella was seen as too “moody” and “model looking” Whitney at the end was getting too involved and coming across a bit prideful after the most popular vote - before that she was seen as more relatable as well.

Noone is perfect but I’d have preferred any of those 3 to win over Jess but there you go. It’s done now and every year I say I won’t watch the next season and then I do 😅 let’s see if I can stick to not watching it next time because dang what a waste of time 😂😂😂

Ty and Ellas faces when they were announce 3rd . Indifferent to Jess but Really can not believe that Sammy won. He was probably one of the most toxic males in there (along with Mitch and Ty of course). Ty is obviously horrible and aggressive but at least he does actually fancy Ella and to be fair to him he’s stayed on her the whole time. Sammy’s behaviour was less openly toxic than the other 2 but he’s a complete user, devoid of any ability to understand other’s emotions, and a gaslighter when he’s gets called out on anything he does. I know children who are more emotionally mature. Literally can’t stand the guy.

So many journeys were taken last night.. was I watching love island or Thomas Cook TV?
Couldn't stand any of the couples. No genuine connections this year at all. Not even friendships.
What I was really hoping for was that Jess's declaration would be something along the lines of. " Sammy, when i sawr ya i jist knoo youd be muy type. But really You're a greasy fuckboy. I can't stand you. I waana finish this journey on me own"

Gotta love it, how, when people don't get the result they want, they call fix and rigged. 😆There's a few people doing that on here. Whitney and Lochan had it in the bag until Whitney showed her true colours several weeks ago when she was a mean girl, and a complete and utter bitch to OG Ella.

I'm absolutely laughing my arse off at the salty butthurt people on Twitter crying and whinging and moaning and saying Whitney and Lochan 'woz robbed' 😆and even yes, you guessed it.. suggestions that Whitney didn't win because she's black. Yes, quite a few people have said that! Hmmm, nothing to do with the fact that she was caustic and nasty and rude, and a complete bitch to her supposed best friend. Noooo ... it's because of her skin colour... 🙄

Jess was lovely, nice and sweet, and endearing the whole way through and I think it's a bit pathetic that people are calling fix and rigged just because she won. Yeah for sure her and Sammy are a poor match as he clearly CBA with her, but TBH not ONE single one of the couples are really genuine.

Whitney is not arsed about Lochan, she is so distant with him. She tries to show she likes him, but fails. They won't last a month outside the villa. Molly and Zach are fake. I don't know if they even like each other at all, and I give them 3 months as Molly will want some publicity and stories. OG Ella and Ty are a hot mess together and fight like 14 year olds. They will break up in about 2 months. They are 100% toxic.

None of them deserve to win really but out of all the 8 individuals left in the final, I think Jess deserved it the most and I'm actually SO glad she won. (With Sammy.)

There has never been a black winner and lots of problematic issues with LI and race in the past, I don't think it's wild people notice to be honest. It's interesting that you neglect to mention how much of a toxic and awful person Sammy is! I don't actually care who won although it's surprising it was a couple in which he said numerous times he wasn't attracted to her, he liked slim women and that he explored all other options before settling with her over others who at least tolerated eachother. Winners aren't usually the most successful anyway.

I’ve seen a lot of the racist comments. But Whit was voted the favourite not so long ago, so it wasn’t a racist vote then but is now? I don’t understand that.

Like others, I went off Whitney when she turned on Ella. Lochan is really dull and doesn’t seem genuine.

Sammy is vile and absolutely doesn’t deserve to win but Jess did, so it was the best of a bad bunch.

This is exactly my view too - Jess wasn't liked at the start - lots of comments about how awful she looked, her make-up, her voice etc etc. (on here too, not just on SM) - but people started to like her attitude more and more.
But it must be rigged because someone who "just says it as they see it" (ie fucking rude) didn't win.
Everyone LOVED Whitney for the first few weeks she was there, then it all went wrong. If she and L seemed genuinely into each other, she probably would have won in the end - but when they have a snog, it looks really unnatural/awkward.

Re Sammy and Ty - I don't think people are more likely to forgive them than Whitney - it's just that Sammy's bad behaviour was weeks ago - and as Maya said herself, LI is the one place you're supposed to explore all possibilities - that's the entire point of it all.
And people obv haven't forgiven Ty and see they're toxic together, otherwise they wouldn't have been 3rd.

With regards to Sammy though, he said the moment he saw Jess on her own after Casa he knew she was the one and doesn't seem to have put a foot wrong since. Yes, some of his comments were unnecessary and he could have handled things better, but personally I'd rather a bloke who made certain he was serious before committing than one that jumps straight in declaring it will be me and only me forevermore.

I was dreading Molly winning as knew everybody would be going "see, knew it. The producers had her to win from the start, that's why they brought her back" 🙄

Jess was bitchy to Molly at the start. There was that moment she had made some shady comment about her and Catherine and Whitney I think tried to talk to her about it. Jess knew it was a bit bitchy and didn’t want to talk so pulled out the tears and stormed off.

After that I think she learned to sit on the fence and keep out of the drama.

Stuck with Sammy as she never really had any viable options except Josh(? Was it?) but he came too late and she correctly knew that binning off Sammy at that stage may make her look the villain.

She has a successful business doing fillers etc and was presumably already a wannabe influencer. She wanted to stay as long as possible to max her business opportunities after. Fair play to her, she played it well and did right in locking down Sammy after Casa when he was saying he still wanted to know Amber. He caught on quick and knew he could coast to the final if he stuck with it.

Jess is already successful and I'm sure and hope she continues to be so, it's true though out of every series invariably it's the runners up who are still working in their chosen avenue years on and are generally more successful. Out of this series I suspect Ella will definitely be one of the top earners.

Sanam isn't black, black men don't face the same issues in reality TV as women. It's not about race that much but it's unsurprising given the history of the show that people notice.
