I hope the kids get too keep their outfits. My five year of self would have been gutted to have a dress made for me but then not keep it!

Yes - I wondered if they got their dresses, too.

And Lizzie's was by far the poorest.

I think Mia's is best. I have to say Asmaa's is a bit like a Disney costume.

Agree. Like an Elsa dress

MouseMinge · 28/06/2023 21:56

Yay, Tony!

Wolfcub · 28/06/2023 21:57

Oh I feel all emotional for Tony

CaptainMyCaptain · 28/06/2023 21:57

The right choices I think.

Emotionalsupportviper · 28/06/2023 21:58

I can't believe it. Fauve really irritated me, and now I don't want her to go . . . 😢

She sort of grew on me too

HeadNorth · 28/06/2023 21:58

I preferred Mia’s dress, I think the neoprene would be sweaty and uncomfortable.

I really liked Fauve, but it was her time.

MouseMinge · 28/06/2023 21:59

I'm sad to see Fauve go and she was clearly well liked.

MouseMinge · 28/06/2023 22:00

Cargo pants! I'll have to go to the place that has sewing bee patterns afterwards. I love cargo pants.

Spudlet · 28/06/2023 22:03

Shame for Fauve! I loved the jumpsuit idea but I think most five year old girls would want the sparkly princess dress option over that, tbh, even if the grownups would prefer the more practical option. Loved the look of Tony’s dress but question the comfort levels of the fabric. I think Vicky’s model looked the happiest in her dress, she was doing twirls and everything 😊

Binglebong · 28/06/2023 22:12

Right decisions. I forsee a lot of neoprene dresses in shops soon - love the way it kept the structure.

Are all girls skirts so short now?

FriendsDrinkBook · 28/06/2023 22:13

I'm really glad they focused on the sewing this week. It was really nice to see their technique critiqued for a change. I'm sad to see fauve go , but happy to see Tony win gotw. 90s week looks fun , homemade combats are tempting.

FriendsDrinkBook · 28/06/2023 22:14

@MouseMinge ikr! I need some of those.

MorrisZapp · 28/06/2023 22:26

Bring on the 90s! Will we get a Patrick throwback snap?

Patrick referenced himself at the roller disco when praising Lizzie’s transformation, soooo… maybe, just maybe he still went in 1990?!

2Rebecca · 29/06/2023 07:33

I liked the dragon dressing gown and the dresses. Never a fan of the middle challenge. Tony's dress was interesting but as a little girl I'd have wanted Aasma's dress

catwithflowers · 29/06/2023 08:57

Bit of a daft question, and apologies if this has been answered before, but who makes the demo models of the garments the sewers have to make? I would like it to be Esme but I think it's unlikely 😃

I expect they have a team of runner intern elves who sweep the floor and tidy up the workshop, replace and restock all the haberdashery and return it to its pristine colour coded glory, re fold and re stack the fabrics in the fabric stash and rustle up the demo clothes for the following week before daybreak. They are probably all related to Esme, she has a touch of elf about her.

I am glad Tony won GOTW, in my opinion he was robbed of first place in the transformation because his dinosaur jacket was charming, cleverly designed and very wearable. I think a lot of kids would have pounced on it like raptors.

Floralnomad · 29/06/2023 11:00

I really liked Tony’s dress and am quite happy to see Fauve go

Emotionalsupportviper · 29/06/2023 11:35

I liked Tony's dress last week, too - it was very subtle.

MoirasSaggyBundles · 29/06/2023 16:04

Tony's nailed it 2 weeks in a row, imo. The criticism of his fab dress last week was really unfair. It was head and shoulders better than Fauve's monstrosity. I am wondering why he didn't try the neoprene for surrealist week though, I imagine he'd have been able to make something quite marvellous out of it.

Aasma got away with a poor week. Both her transformation and party dress were uninspiring. I thought the latter looked too big across the bodice. Hope she's back on form next week.

catwithflowers · 29/06/2023 16:59

I've just caught up with last night's. I'm always sorry to see someone go home. Unlike other shows with a similar format, I have liked all the contestants. I thought Fauve was funny and genuine. Anyway, someone has to leave I guess as it's a competition!

I agree that Aasma wasn't really on top form this week (I think she might win as she is so talented) but loved Tony's dress. Very original and super cute.

upinaballoon · 29/06/2023 17:52

Just caught up on this thread. I can't remember who made it but I was pleased to see that the tartan/check dress, which had the bodice cut on the cross, had the big check centre front.

As for bias binding - well, it's useful because it can go round bends.

I haven't done a stitch today. Out of the 372 projects half-started in this house, I wonder if I could get off line and put in 7 stitches before bed-time.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 29/06/2023 17:54

Mia's Christmas dress, I think.
