But of course the big question is, will Arabella Weir move in two doors down?

Totally agree about Elaine's apartment. It looks like a very dated funeral home.🙄

However, have I missed something? I thought they were buying a very posh flat in Redbanks - very upmarket apparently - and yet the ambulance collected Elaine from the top of Coronation Street.

Surely someone is going to suss out the vile Stephen soon. Can't believe Audrey has never once received any paperwork following the equity release Stephen fraudulently arranged.

I was going to ask the same!

Yes, I mean I wasn't born then but my dad is a fan of the show man about the house so have seen some eps

Fraid so! 🤣. Used to love it and wanted to be Paula Wilcox who has still kept her fab figure.

Yes

Sorry @Woodhill my last post should have quoted you.

Definitely more than old enough to remember Man about the House.😂

AutumnCrow · 18/06/2023 15:15

I remember the first episode from when I was a kid! I think 'the girls' had a party and they found Robin sleeping in the bath the morning after? And he stayed.

George and Mildred, the landlords, were wonderful.

They never think things through in Corrie do they! As if the posh flat would be on coronation street !

Is Redbanks supposed to be a set of apartments in a converted former public lav / abattoir / home of rest? It's got a ... feel to it, as George might say.

woodhill · 18/06/2023 15:26

yes and MATH wouldn't hold up well now

Still remember the introduction with the bikini under the bridge

Most of it probably went over my head as I was a kid

NCTDN · 18/06/2023 16:18

Where's Peter these days?

Where's Peter these days?

Probably in hiding until the writers think of something, anything better to do with him than that dreadful “Can I swap a biro for a motorbike?” storyline. (I use the word “storyline” in the loosest possible sense.)

Well yesterday I went to the theatre to see Maureen Lipman in a play, Rose. She was phenomenal it it. For two and a half hours it was just her sat on a bench, shes bloody brilliant. God knows what she thinks of Coronation Street. She has to be doing it for the money and they are so damned lucky to have her.

What’s going on with Jenny’s legs? They look like corned beef

Oh Max 😳

TheFifthTellytubby · 19/06/2023 21:32

I thought I must have missed an episode this evening when Jenny remarked to Daisy and Daniel that she felt sorry for Ryan because "Crystal" had turned out to be Justin's sister ... obviously a cover story for Daisy, but is this the first we've heard of it? It just sounded a bit odd! I don't remember this being discussed before.

Neverinamonthofsundays · 19/06/2023 21:32

Daisy started putting the idea in Ryans head a week or so ago saying it must have been either Justin or the sister to deflect from herself.

Ah, thanks - of course, I remember now. Jenny was talking about it as though it was common knowledge!

Totally random post but why did not Canadian Stephen and Tim’s mum have salad with a hotpot surly it would be steamed veg or at best beetroot and red cabbage

George and Mildred, the landlords, were wonderful.

They had been looking for another woman to share the flat but discovered he could cook.

I loved that show.

They have never made the best of her, totally embarrassing the way an actress of her quality
was brought in as Tyrone's long lost nanna and we have more nonsense with his mum showing up - I hate silly retcons. Margi Clarke was superb as Tyrone's mum.

Speaking of seventies sitcoms, I used to love her in Agony.

I saw a recording of Rose on Sky Arts a while back, I didn't know she was doing it again. You are right, she was phenomenal! She's far too good for Coronation Street, although I do like Evelyn.

I’m not sure it’s poor circulation, it looks like she has tights to match her jacket on!

I saw it about a fortnight ago and was equally impressed.

As for why Maureen Lipman would do Corrie, I read when she first came into it that it was actually her agent who pitched it. ML felt she’d been pigeonholed as a theatre and film actress and wanted to do TV again, so had said to her agent “I want to get back on TV, but I don’t want to be a Loose Woman and I don’t want to be filmed going on holiday - I want to act.” He’d suggested approaching Coronation Street, and I’m guessing they pretty much bit his hand off; hence ML gets the flexibility to do a lot of theatre.

The stupid thing is, they didn’t even need to do it like that. Maureen Lipman and Margi Clarke are 12 years apart in age (five more than Sue Nicholls and Helen Worth!) - all they had to do was make Evelyn a couple of years older and Jackie a couple of years younger and Evelyn could have been her mother.

I need my abacus to work that out. I had forgotten about Agony. When I am old and bewildered I hope to spend my time watching lesser known sitcoms. Not Dads Army and HiDi Hi and On the Buses.
I missed a few episodes but wont ask what happened because I dont care.
