It’s a shame she couldn’t have a go fund me for Dozie. I was very pleased with Audrey taking Mike and Penny to task… the gall of them going in the Rovers for a drink too!

Fred was daft though. Proposing to a woman he’d known a month or two and never even kissed as far as we know. I mean, he’s a good man but totally deluded. If a newish male mate proposed to me I’d think he was weird.

Doesn’t excuse Mike’s treatment of him though. They’re supposed to be pals. And it’s kind of worse because Mike isn’t even that besotted by Penny so it’s not worth losing a friend over.

I have actually had people do that to me, (just cut in when I am chatting to someone, as Sally did to Angela.) I am so incensed and stunned by the rudeness and audacity that I usually don't say anything. If the person I am chatting to switches to talking to this rude person who butted in though, I will walk away without saying anything. And I have done so before several times.

Said person I was chatting to, has approached me sheepishly later - or cowardly texted me, and apologised. Not good enough. They should be saying... 'I am talking to sweetbirdsong at the moment - I'll catch you up in a few minutes/a bit later.' It's SO rude, and fucking arrogant of the person who butts in! Horrible behaviour. Ignorant, entitled, and RUDE.

Well quite. Fred proposes within a few weeks with almost every woman he meets. So bizarre. I wonder if there are men like that in real life?! I suppose there must be. I don't know any, but they probably do exist! Poor Fred, he is such a nice man and a real catch as a husband, but I just couldn't fancy him.

I hear you about the rude people pushing in. It usually happens to me in shops, where you are speaking to the assistant and someone shoves their beak in because their query is more important or they are in a rush. I’m a coward but my mum tells them to piss off.

I can kind of see what Claire's mum means ,Maxine was overtly attractive and very beautiful
Claire is very pretty but much more subdued than Maxine
Having said that she's far more suited to Ashley than Maxine was

Maxine was a very gorgeous girl (do you remember the actress falling foul of Darren Day when he was a lads mag player?), Claire was much more Ashley. Lovely, kind and a lot cleverer than him. Little Chesney was such a brilliant little actor, his lip curls were fab. I was heartbroken to hear him say he would have to go back into care again. Poor little boy.I felt so cross with Todd going to work in his good shirt! Karl is utterly selfish, what bloke happily revels in screwing a man with a pregnant girlfriend? I think they were really villanising (can’t spell it) Karl. I’m not sure if it’s because at the time homosexual relationships were verboten? So they needed one of “the dirty gays” to be the bad guy. The bottom line is she’s a young pregnant girl with a difficult pregnancy and the man she’s given her trust to, that she put before her family is a cheater. Poor love.

I actually felt a tear emerging when there was a close-up of Chesney's little smile while cuddling Schmeichel.

I'm a bit confused about Les's 180 on Cilla. I thought he wanted her gone after she stole Fiz's credit card but now she's the love of his life again.

Poor little Chesney ☹️standing in the road cuddling Schmikael ( no idea how to spell it) while Cilla left in the taxi. She was a good villain though.

Chesney was really heartbreaking when he was little with his dog

Wendi Peters and Sam Aston were brilliant in those roles.

They stayed in touch after Wendi quit - I remember reading that at the time. Wendi lived in Hertfordshire with her husband and child and was finding the travelling hard, which is why she left.

I remember clearly that funny conversation about the “booty call” and Audrey’s query about the term.

Fred keenly asking questions about Thai brides having just proposed to a much younger woman who wasn’t even his girlfriend. Yuck.

Agreed Tennis! I bloody love Fred but my god I’m going to struggle with these creepy storylines coming up. I really enjoy watching these storylines and how far we have come. I would love to read a thesis on classic soaps misogyny and how it’s changed over the years.
We haven’t seen the last of Cilla! She was such a pantomime villain and such a lightening rod for us to hate! I remember Wendi in the magazines at the time and the difference between her and her character, she was poles apart from Cilla. She was a bloody magnificent actress!

I don't remember Karen McDonald being such such a horrible cow when I watched these episodes back in the day. She's awful

My thoughts recently

• my heart literally breaks for chesney!! I wonder what was the reaction to this storyline when it first aired as I just find the neglect so shocking and the fact he's always hungry, no clean clothes etc.
• I'm finding it hard to believe how Dev is putting up with Maya!
• can't stand Tod at the minute. I understand he's confused but he's just being a massive lying cheat now! So unfair on poor Sarah
• Bev was really grossing me out with her man eater ways so I'm hoping that's calmed down now.
• I love the actress who plays Karen but Karen is grating on me so much now with her calling Steve 'baby' and her venomous looks and straining her voice all the time I just want to give her a throat sweet.
• I hope Tracy keeps allowing the croppers access to Amy and softens up a touch now
