I wasn't really paying attention because I wanted to finish my book and I didn't have my glasses on to see the tv properly but the presentation certainly looked and sounded like a pig's ear of an amateur cock up!! And who was the bloke(s) who was booed??!

I couldn't stay awake for the women sadly, ( though doesn't look like it lasted long). I feel for both of them. It was bloody stupid starting a match that late, after lousy weather. It was damp, cold and dark.
Rome finals ( women's) have been a let down for a few years- Pliskova retired against Halep iirc correctly in 2020, and was double bageled her the following year.
There have been a lot of discussions over the format of the extended tournaments. It hasn't worked well in Madrid and Rome this year- and they have been greedy over tickets and stuck to unrealistic scheduling.

Decided to watch the re-play (don't usually bother when I know the score, but it's either that or do something useful with my morning looks at grass).

It was a very, very sad end for Anhelina- such a big week for her- and it is never really the way a player wants to win a title. Makes everything so flat at the end.

The replay didn't show the ceremony, unfortunately, though I'm not surprised!

i just saw the end of the men’s semi - what was Daniil’s weird dance? I think Stef needs to distance himself from his family (when he’s playing tennis at least) - they don’t seem to be doing him any favours at all!

Such a shame about the women’s final - I can’t believe they started playing at that time - rubbish for the players and the fans

I think the general feeling is that the two week thing hasn’t really worked in Madrid and Rome - some days there’s been hardly any tennis and then they try to cram everything in on one day. It’s also a long wait between tournaments for players who lose in the early rounds - I think they need a bit of a rethink!

Looking forward to watching the men’s final later (no prizes for guessing they won’t be starting at about 11pm!)

Fizzy no, the men's final is scheduled for 'not before 4pm'(Rome time) . And the doubles is before that.

where as the women's was not before 7pm. Followed by the doubles final. Funny that.

There are also only 2 matches being played today, where they were trying to play to men's semi finals and 2 finals yesterday. All on the same court, supposedly.

There is rain predicted anyway, so who knows what will happen today.

fizzy I think people have suggested Daniil was taking the piss out of a dance Stef did in Cincy, but I think from the after match interview he was just trying to create a meme. It was a dreadful interview actually, they forgot to ask him anything about the match! I feel like this whole tournament has been an omnishambles.
