Eurovision 2023 Liverpool: Semi Final 1

Semi Final one looks like the one to watch and the harder one to qualify from.

For all the nerds the big five and Ukrainian have had their draw for the Grand Final:
In the first half are France, Spain and Italy (positions to be decided on Friday)
In the second half are Germany (position to be decided), Ukrainian 19th and UK 26th (confirmed positions).

Tickets for Thursday afternoon. Got them last week on the second sale. Would have loved to have got grand final tix, but just couldn't get through for them. I'm happy enough with what we got (Inc the price!). We will have a blast in Liverpool AND be able to sit watch and enjoy with friends on the TV with DS.

Just waiting to hear if friend can still come as she has family issue and may not make it yet.

Is it all original content or is it just a loop that repeats? We watched two hours of it last night whilst getting stupidly excited.

It's on a loop, but it takes a while to repeat - DH has had it on all morning...I'm just waiting for Mans again Wink

We saw Nikita from Strictly yesterday. He was short than I thought he would be and very very orange.

(I only realised who it was cos some bloke was shouting at him).

@Comefromaway do you mind me asking what sort of time people started queuing for the preview show? We go tomorrow evening and won’t be able to set off until childcare arrives, just wondered what sort of time people were waiting from? Also was there merchandise, food and drink on sale inside the arena? Thank you for any help!

We joined the queue at 6pm but that was mostly because we’d eaten early dune to the rain & we were killing time. They started processing everyone through the bag checks at about 6.15pm and we had visited the loo and were in our seats at 6.35pm according to the time stamp on a photo I took, it was that efficient. At first we thought the queue looked bad but we realised that was for hospitality and they could go in earlier.

there were separate lines for hospitality, seats and floor.

Yes, lots of food and drink options inside the arena and merchandise stands.

Another stupidly-excited long-time Eurovision fan reporting for duty!

We're going to the Saturday afternoon preview show (hospitality) and I'm driving everyone up the wall with my enthusiasm.

My favourite in tonight's semifinal has to be Käärijä for Finland but I'm desperate for Latvia, Moldova and Serbia to make it through too.

I would love for Azerbaijan to get to the final as their song is so lovely but it's been almost completely written off by so many.

I really like the Azerbaijan entry. It's sweet. It reminds me of the Beatles. I'm afraid it will be knocked out too though.
