Ice yes, sometimes (depending on who is playing) they have tapped racquets. Some have avoided doing anything .

Jane it is. DD2 was just asking why only one of the players had a flag- to be honest in the 'non' team events, (Davis Cup Hoffman Cup, Olympics etc) I don't see why the flags are needed.
