I don't bother now recording / watching the rural France episodes ( or rural Spain as I've no interest in baking in the intense heat up a mountain in a spartan retreat with no access to a pool ).
I've also ditched the episodes where they've £70000 to £80000 to spend on a coastal property as I might as well dream big.Blush

I'm behind only just caught up on the Oxfordshire one.

I liked the lady in the couple but thought she was mad selling her gorgeous property and going in with him on that boxy place after such a short relationship.

Felt for the lady who worked in Oxford, her budget just wouldn't get anywhere well located and it was a good budget for a first time buyer.

I've heard of this. They take them to places because they get more brick for their buck, and that's because it's a known sinkhole. The guest smiles politely and say well, I need to explore the area since she can't say what she really thinks

£800k was a big budget for a young couple - I missed the bit about how they got the deposit. Loved the first Surrey house but I bet that went to sealed bids and for more than asking. Wasn't so keen on the others.

350k was too much for that one bed flat in Godalming - you can get a one bed for £300k in a nice part of zone 3/2 borders in London these days. The two bed flat was nice inside but didn't have any kerb appeal and looked insecure to me - straight off the street into the back garden access (unless I missed security gates/back gate).

Seems like a very tough market for buyers in Surrey but has probably cooled down since filming took place.

That struck me too re access to the garden with no gate - just walk in off the street @Turmerictolly. Otherwise it was a lovely flat.

I think the first house the couple saw was lovely but smaller than what they bought. First thing for me that fireplace would have to go. Smile

The couple had previous sold a property and gone into rented to be close to family(I think).

I can't imagine wanting to live in Guildford as a young single person.

At least this week the type of properties they wanted existed, they had realistic budgets for the area.

I was amused by the way the female half of the couple, who was clearly a bit of a hipster, couldn’t think of a polite way to say that the Mrs Hinch house was just too Mrs Hinch for her. We looked at a very similar place last year. It looked very smart in the photos, but up close was all shoddy finishing and fraying nylon carpet.

She was never going to get it, though- with five offers already, putting one in at the asking price would be a waste of time unless you were a cash buyer with no chain.

I thought cool trendy couple were mad to buy the one they did, too much work needed with twin babies! I really couldn’t see the appeal of it myself. And it was only her that really wanted it, he wasn’t that keen.

If I was the single lady I would have bought the one bedroom flat in Guildford, yes I know it was £££ but it was lovely and it was where she wanted to be.
