Duncan might be easy on the eye but he doesn't seem to have much of a personality

Scalottia · 14/04/2023 13:38

Poor Duncan. He seems a good chap. The 'give me attention' brat can bugger off!

Bronte and Harrison are ridiculous. Side note - why do so many people on here write it as 'Brontë?' Is that the correct spelling, with the ë? Not a big deal I know!

MelsMoneyTree · 14/04/2023 13:43

I liked when Duncan lectured SexPestMel on 'masculinity' but I can't remember him intervening when the men behave badly.
As for the accent on Bronte, it's used for the writers' surname. I guess some posts are autocorrecting to that spelling.

I'm pretty sure Duncan said something to Harrison last night standing up for Brontë (autocorrect accent) it was something like "what does she need to say to make you trust her"

I think Duncan is very very good at not showing anger or irritation, (thinking how he deals with Alyssa) and therefore is less noticeable when he says stuff.

I see Jessie’s thinking as ; we’re married now, what are reasons it won’t work.
Whilst Clare is opposite ; what are the reasons we should be together and why should we stay married.
She was put off that he found fault so quickly but I think he’s just too complicated for her and in truth, content in his own company.

I agree with this. I think he's also far from her usual type (suspect she goes for buff blokes) - I don't think they are a good mental.match

MelsMoneyTree · 14/04/2023 17:38

You're right @happinessischocolate Duncan did say that. But tbh I heard it as him putting responsibility back on Bronte to say something to pander to Harrison.

I have real doubts about Jesse, if he really cared about Claire, why would he bring all that up at the table, it’s kind of humiliating.
He likes the air time, contrary to what he tries to present

Furthermore why would he want to give Harrison the satisfaction of knowing that he’d successfully meddled in their relationship??!

Yes. I thought he was trying to find a 'resolution' i.e. how can Bronte make poor Harrison feel better! I was a bit taken aback because it felt like Duncan was not seeing any issue with Harrison's actions. But of course we only saw a snippet of the discussion.

@Rollergirl11 yeah, you’d think he’d be smarter than that, strangely he seems a bit pally with Harrison

Honeycomb22 · 14/04/2023 19:13

My phone autocorrect’s Brontë. I think Harrison got off really lightly I wanted to see him squirm.

If anyone else had said it I'd agree, but if you think about how Duncan speaks to Alyssa when she's angry. He actually says, very reasonably, "can I argue with that" and "can I hug you" he's the master of asking things in a very reasonable voice. I don't think he was putting it on Bronte, I think he was pulling Harrison up on how unreasonable he was being.

I can see why you'd think otherwise though.

As there nothing on tonight I'm tempted to watch last nights again. Bet I missed loads of stuff 😂

That’s not how I took it at all

Came across to me as Duncan diplomatically suggesting to Harrison that there wasn’t any more Bronte could really do. As in “Well what more would you actually expect, given she’s been quite clear”.

Yep. Totally how it came across to me too

Stressybetty · 14/04/2023 20:41

Thinking it was hilarious Taylor making some grand entrance only to be dumped minutes later. Obviously hoping for what's his name to be crawling and begging to try again.

OnATrolley · 14/04/2023 21:58

Harrison is like John Malkovich (Valmont)in Dangerous Liaisons. He wants Brontë to fall in love with him/ surrender to him, so he can then destroy her.
The way that Malkovich wants to destroy Michelle Pfeiffer.
It's a huge power game played by deviants.

buzz91 · 14/04/2023 22:45

I know people said that they think Harrison could be aggressive etc outside this, I could see that with Dan but not him. I think he enjoys the drama, he likes being in control and manipulating people for fun - so not a nice person, but I think you can see the panic in him when he feels stuck/cornered and rather than lash out I think his response would be to deflect or if he can’t, to run, but there’s no where to run from all these people staring at him so he lashes out more.

I wonder if in real life he keeps different bits of his life separate so that he doesn’t have these issues and is a bit of a serial ghoster when he does get caught out.

CuppaWhiteTea · 14/04/2023 23:14

I think cos there’s Bronte Beach in Sydney which is pronounced ´Bron-tee’, like how they say her name. But in the UK the more familiar word is Bron-tay, like Charlotte Brontë or Emily Brontë, etc.?

Bronte with an e is correct (doesn't have an accent) same as the Sydney suburb of the same name.

JellyBeanFactory · 15/04/2023 09:57

I went to school with a Brontë - the umlaut over the e is there to show it's pronounced and not silent. Bront-ay and not Bront-ee or just Bront. She was always adamant that the teachers and others made sure the two dots we there (this was early IT days so not much word processing). Her nickname was "dots".

froomeonthebroom · 15/04/2023 10:24

Can we make a list of all the shitty stuff Harrison has done? I know he's awful but I keep forgetting the specifics.

The initial thing was being with another woman in the week before the wedding and thinking that was OK.

froomeonthebroom · 15/04/2023 10:27

Oh also sleeping with her and then saying he wasn't sexually attracted to her on the honeymoon. It's all coming crashing back to me!

OrchardBlack · 15/04/2023 11:39

Harrison is a grade A narcissist and I will die on this hill.

Should have been paired with Tayla.

I know why there's an umlaut - sorry - diaeresis (it's not an umlaut) - over the e. But her name is written Bronte, like Bronte the Sydney suburb as a PP said. I was just wondering why so many posters here are spelling it with the ë - because in this case that is incorrect. Someone wrote that it's probably autocorrect, which makes sense. Anyway, no big deal! Back to discussions of arsehole Harrison and lovely Duncan!

Absolutely agree. At one point he said he hated being centre of attention... that's literally his job??

Brontë is autocorrect for me and I don't care enough about her to go back and change it every time.

I have found Harrison an extremely hard watch as we've been able to see his hideous personality from the get go, watching someone manipulate, gaslight, lie, bully and demean others is generally not nice to look at.

I'd quite like the production company/ixperts to justify how Harrison, Dan, Tayla and sexpestMel were even invited to the ixperiment
