They say this is new, but I think already shown on another channel.

I must have seen at least 3 or 4 versions of this.

But will probably watch (record to skip through ads and there must be a lot as it is 1.25 hours).

I just hope it isn't one of those lets update it and make it relevant.

Cant find the listing on ITVx so not sure if all episodes will be available to binge watch.

Here's some info from another tv listings site https://www.tvguide.co.uk/m-detail/5019746/82515397/agatha-christies-why-didnt-they-ask-evans

This has definitely been shown somewhere before.

Rhubarb01 · 09/04/2023 21:15

It was on Britbox, then moved to ITVx subscription, but it is a new version and true to the book. I enjoyed it.

JemimaTab · 09/04/2023 21:18

This was originally on Britbox I think. The Radio Times gave it a good write up, and it’s a good cast (plus adapted by Hugh Laurie), so it seems quite promising. We’ll see.

JaneJeffer · 09/04/2023 21:20

I don't have Britbox or ITVX. I think RTÉ must have had it because it's on the player now.

SertralineAndTherapy · 09/04/2023 21:24

The Britbox version was an absolute delight! Although the dénouement left me completely confused, it didn't really matter.

bendmeoverbackwards · 09/04/2023 21:34

I’m watching. Lucy Boynton was in Ballet Shoes.

JimmyDurham · 09/04/2023 21:51

atching it now. Finding it very slow and a bit dull TBH.

JimmyDurham · 09/04/2023 21:51

Watching

DameMargaretofChalfont · 09/04/2023 22:01

I'm finding it very tedious, it feels a bit like walking in treacle.

There's no real spark or feeling of involvement.

JaneJeffer · 09/04/2023 22:12

Emma Thompson has arrived

tsmainsqueeze · 09/04/2023 22:17

Watching but disappointed won't bother with the rest, quite boring and i'm
not impressed with the acting , it's totally lacking compared to the usual Agatha Christie production.

burnoutbabe · 09/04/2023 22:39

It's a rare one where I don't remember who did it so that's good!

Is Hugh Laurie acting in this? Or just behind the scenes.

Rhubarb01 · 09/04/2023 22:41

Hugh Laurie does appear in this later.

He is in it, but not in the first ep. Interesting to see that others find it too slow-paced, we normally find adaptations to move too quickly! No accounting for tastes. (My DS15 thinks it's the best TV he's watched, and he's watched a lot. I wouldn't go as far as that by any means.)

carpool · 09/04/2023 22:46

Co-incidentally am just re-reading this. Watched tonight and it is fairly true to the book so far but not totally. Thought it was a bit slow but maybe knowing the story doesn't help.

Forever42 · 09/04/2023 23:07

Just been watching on +1. Love an Agatha Christie but have never read this one. I'm enjoying it.

thatsn0tmyname · 09/04/2023 23:15

It was OK. I watched it because we saw them filming on Wimbledon common but the actual scene was a 'blink and you'll miss it'.

Clawdy · 10/04/2023 08:20

Did someone say this one is different from the Britbox version, or did I misunderstand that?

It's the same series that was originally shown on Britbox last year.

TragicMuse · 10/04/2023 13:52

I'm enjoying it. It's infinitely better than the 'Marple' travesty.

And I like Will Poulter, he was brilliant in Dopesick and I think he's doing a good job.

Seaoftroubles · 10/04/2023 17:21

I am enjoying it, lovely scenery, gentle pace and great chemistry between Bobby and Frankie.

Hotcrossed · 10/04/2023 18:47

I am enjoying this

IwantToRetire · 10/04/2023 20:25

I watched the first episode last night prepared to hate it because I think Hugh Larie is a waste of space.

But was pleasantly suprised, partly because it is better that tne one mentioned up thread that somehow got Miss Marple in to the story line.

Luckily I am someone who forgets almost the next day the outcome of a plot so I have no idea what happens next, and appreciate those who haven't posted spoilers.

Its what I think of as comfort blanket tv. Sometimes the dramatic toll of watching say Spiral or Blue Lights is not the best end to a day.

So hoping the next episode will be as pleasant and soothing.

Just about to watch final episode, enjoyable tv

mogtheexcellent · 11/04/2023 14:46

I was away for Easter so just watching on catch up. I had seen it on Britbox and its definitely one of the better adaptations of a Christie. They have changed the Badger character to a muich better one but otherwise very few changes compared to the ITV Marple debacle. I'm fond of the Francesca Annis version as well but its been a while since I've seen it.
