Thought I’d better start a new thread before today’s episode as the old one was almost full.

At least we’ve got a break from Nina until next week.

If they get rid of Al I'm done!

Kirsty actress is awful - I am cringing at the TV for her!! I saw her interviewed on morning live and she seems like a lovely person but she needs to drop that fake brummie accent and get some acting lessons sharpish!! She’s concentrating so much on the accent she’s forgotten to act!

This ☝️ She is an awful actress

AnnieSnap · 24/03/2023 21:31

I miss Princess. She was awful of course, but the dynamic was so entertaining.

Raahh · 25/03/2023 08:00

I'm actually starting to think we didn't know we well off, when Princess was around (even she wasn't quite as irritating as Kirsty or Nina).

What is odd, is I think there was a good back story potential- her relationship with her mother/ the uncle pulling strings, which all seemed dodgy. These were touched on briefly - but given how we have been bombarded by Kirsty's homelife (for no real good reason)- they could have got some decent mileage from her back story. Might have even made her likeable, or at least properly understood her motives. But it was all a bit glossed over.

Still couldn't stand her though Grin

If they get rid of Al I'm done!

oh, me too.

There are several cast members I want to leave, before he does.

When they write 'Al' decent plots, he is a great character- but they keep defaulting to ' Al the arse' which is annoying, boring and really a bit lazy after all these years. And now Gobby has told Nina about the bus driver incident- that will be the thing that defines his character to her, and she will use it.

I always look forward to the plots with his mum - she's a fabulous actress, and they work well together.
(I did think they rushed the ending of the last time she was in it- when she was ill. She made a very rapid recovery from looking down and out- and then vanished next episode!).

EspeciallyDedicated · 25/03/2023 08:15

I'd like more of Al and his mum too, I also get annoyed when they do those episodes where he behaves like an arse as he is a great character and well acted. Probably my favourite at the moment.

Raahh · 25/03/2023 10:30

Especially I used to think his friendship with Jimmi was the best 'relationship' Grin on the show. But the writers decided to mess with that- and now we just get Jimmi rolling his eyes a lot and finding Al frustrating, and Al sulking with him.

They are obviously leading up to a 'war' with Nina- I just hope the Mill staf side with right person...

martinisforeveryone · 25/03/2023 11:15

I'm not too sure about preferring Princess, but it's a close call.

Who do we think's the most annoying, Kirsty or Nina? Take into account the accent and the acting skills brought to the line and then consider their story lines to date and their potential for the future.

I think I'm nominating Kirsty.

It is a close call with Princess GrinRose tinted glasses and all that.

Kirsty is dire (and the only other thing I ever saw her in- Father Brown- the actress wasn't much better- but at least kept her own accent). And she comes with a terrible family- neither of whom can act either.

I never liked Wendi in Corrie- and it's a very, very long time since I saw it- but the ott, Am- Dram performance and accent is just grating. Suni has potential- though- if he steers clear of work place relationships. With anyone.
(Does he know Emma is bi? Maybe they will get togetherGrin).

So on balance Grin the Kirsty, 'whole package deal' makes her marginally worse.

AnnieSnap · 25/03/2023 12:48

Kirsty is the worst by far for me, irrespective of the accent. She is just an awful actress.

EspeciallyDedicated · 25/03/2023 14:13

Kirsty for me too, her family is dysfunctional and I couldnt care less what happens to them. Whereas Nina might not be as nasty as Princess but you can hope she gets come-uppance for her ways.

martinisforeveryone · 25/03/2023 19:22

I think that as bad as Nina is, at least there's potential for her to drive different storylines involving other characters, whereas Kirsty only has the Ollie desertion and the marriage break up story, neither of which are of any interest to most of us.

EspeciallyDedicated · 25/03/2023 19:43

The Ollie desertion could have worked and been interesting if they hadn't done it at the same time as the marriage split but the whole thing together is a total mess.

Raahh · 25/03/2023 19:53

I agree with this- they introduced her, and 2 pretty major things at the same time.
Starting with the split, and then Ollie applying for / getting into the army- ( whilst dealing with his parent spltting up ) might have been better, and given a decent reason why he wanted to leave.

Although I doubt anything would have helped the dire acting aility of all concerned.

EspeciallyDedicated · 25/03/2023 21:03

The real mystery is how Rich put up with Kirsty for 20 years

Raahh · 25/03/2023 21:04

Especially very true Grin

LilyAndTheKing · 26/03/2023 16:13

Kirsty = rubbish acting and dodgy accent all over the place.

MadisonAvenue · 27/03/2023 07:46

Looks like it’s going to be on an hour later at 2.45 today due to the Scottish leadership election results.

Madison that will confuse my tv planner Grin.
At least they haven't cancelled it, they are already a bit behind.

StellaAndCrow · 27/03/2023 14:49

Ha, this is a public information episode - I didn't know that phones could read text to you either!

martinisforeveryone · 27/03/2023 14:56

I'm liking Bear in his harrier suit 😄

Karen's fun with the phone has disaster written all over it.

Puzzled that the medic thinks Tony is mid 30s, or asks about his insulin for Type 2 Diabetes. Is some Type 2 that bad? I thought it was only for Type 1?
