Thought I’d better start a new thread before today’s episode as the old one was almost full.

At least we’ve got a break from Nina until next week.

Proper ugly crying here.

I was too. Poor Rob.💔

That's the second time I've cried at Doctors this year.

Raahh · 30/03/2023 19:14

This week, I went to the cinema to see Allelujah with my mum. ( It's very typical Alan Bennett- but blimey, we were depressed when we left the cinema).
Between that and today, it has been a heavy viewing week!

martinisforeveryone · 30/03/2023 19:49

We've all got our stories of loss and grief and none of them are any easier are they. A sudden and unexpected death like Karen's or topically, Paul O'Grady's is such a horrible shock to the loved ones who experience that loss, but my goodness, it's the way to go when your time's up. Better than a painful and lingering demise in my book.

Best get my affairs in order though. Something I've been procrastinating over.

DH and DD went to see Shazam on Sunday, I booked myself a ticket for Alleluia at the same time based on the cast. Luckily I saw a thread on MN where everyone said it was awful in time for me to cancel the ticket.

However I have had a Judi Dench treat tonight. Does anyone else have SkyQ? It sometimes randomly records things you used to watch ages ago. I spotted some recordings of As Time Goes By on there tonight, I used to love that back in the day so I have just watched the first ever episode which I'd never seen before. Just the thing to lift the mood a bit.

We watched this at the Cinema this afternoon, came home and watched Doctors. We’re currently watching Bridesmaids for some laughter.

It’s funny because my mum used to say exactly that. She lived in fear of being Ill and needing looking after and I did eventually come to realise that had she been given a choice she’d have chosen to go as did. Perhaps not as publically, but very suddenly.

Raahh · 30/03/2023 20:30

maddie The cast in Allelujah was great, but oh my, the plot was bleak. And I could have done without the ending.
It was odd- there were not many in the cinema, and most were older- my mum's in her 70s. Everyone started off laughing...but we all walked out in silence feeling a bit despondent.

Then my mother has 'Les Mis' playing in car!!

I definitely needed to watch something fun after it.

SUBisYodrethwhenLarping · 30/03/2023 21:21

I had no idea of Karen's story until yesterday because I don't like spoilers.

Yesterday, when DH came home I told him I think Karen has died

Then he was out today during it and when he came home he said did I notice the weather (heavy rain) just now, I said that Karen had really died and I was crying my own rain and huge lump in my throat, so no I hadn't noticed the weather outside

Anyway, I think the acting yesterday and today has been brilliant. So well done to all of the cast especially Rob and Karen 💔💔💔💔💔

Stopthatknocking · 30/03/2023 22:57

Great episode, I cried.

But I really want to know where Scarlett got that yellow jumper, I love it.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 31/03/2023 00:04

What a strong episode, Doctors can be hit or miss sometimes but when they get it right they really get it right, I had no idea Karen was going to die so it was a huge shock, the reactions from Rob and Jimmy were heart wrenching, the only flaw was that cold hearted paramedic, she really needs to work on her people skills. I also liked Scarlett putting Luca in his place, her character has really grown on me, however Kirsty and her family need to go, Kirsty’s accent is just awful and she cannot act for toffee. The no music at the end was very poignant.

ICrunchCrispsNotNumbers · 31/03/2023 02:15

Just catching up now. I take tablets and have funny sleeping patterns so mainly watch tv late at night/early morning.

Just on the bit with Rob and the paramedics. 'Patricia' could do with patient training, I think.

ICrunchCrispsNotNumbers · 31/03/2023 02:18

Jimmi's arrived now. I feel so heartbroken for Rob 💔

ICrunchCrispsNotNumbers · 31/03/2023 02:21

I feel so sorry for Scarlett too. She thought of Karen as a second mum to her.

ICrunchCrispsNotNumbers · 31/03/2023 02:23

Oh god. Scarlett's just arrived.

ICrunchCrispsNotNumbers · 31/03/2023 02:24

I'm crying listening to Scarlett 😭😭😭

ICrunchCrispsNotNumbers · 31/03/2023 02:31

Rob's speaking to Immie now 😭😭

ICrunchCrispsNotNumbers · 31/03/2023 02:34

Just finished. What a fantastic episode. I haven't felt like that when watching a tv programme for a long time.

RIP Karen ❤️💕🥰

TooBigForMyBoots · 31/03/2023 03:11

It was testament to the writers and actors. No bells, no explosions.

Just warmth, respect and care.

It’s good for the dead person but a big shock for the relatives:friends. My dad died like that at a similar age to Karen.

That’s so lovely isn’t it.

“A matriarch with a lot to say….”
I hope Kirsty hasn’t be brought in to fill that gap, the less she says the better with that accent.

Oh dear. Well at least Rob is still on it!

ILookAtTheFloor · 31/03/2023 18:54

I hadn't watched Doctors for years and years until very recently when I had watched a couple of episodes and am pleased and somewhat surprised that so many familiar faces were still on the show!

I had to watch yesterday's as I caught the end of it when it was on when I'd come home from work. I thought the part with Jimmi opening the doors was a very nice touch- something that Mumsnet had taught me, that healthcare professionals often open windows after a death to 'let the soul out'.

The acting was brilliant.
