I turned off after 40 minutes. I wish I hadn't of bothered watching it. It was abysmal. Bad plot and even worse acting . It felt like a cheap rip off b movie. Luther the TV series was utterly brilliant and I'm just going to have to try to remember luther as he once was and not this pile of utter garbage.

I was all geared up for them to show Judi Dench in the back of that car at the end. That would’ve been hilarious
(or is it the Voldemort bloke now, I’m not up to date)

MattBerrysHair · 12/03/2023 21:28

I thought it was laughably bad! It felt like a bad Black Mirror rip off. Many plot holes and so much of the ending was ridiculously far fetched. Luther was such a good series too, what a shame this film was made.

Sunshinenotrain · 12/03/2023 23:17

I was definitely a Netflix style movie. Distinctly average. I felt the acting was fake. Especially the fighting scenes in the prison. Was waiting for ‘POW’ ‘SPLAT’ words to come on screen like the old style Batman comics. Not remotely as gritty as normal Luther series. Bring back Happy Valley!

The first hour or so felt like Luther. I'm not sure what on earth the rest of it was meant to be.

Exactly my thoughts.
It turned into an action movie.

Andy Serkis confirmed on the radio this morning that it was his own hair 😀

It really did go totally bonkers towards the end.

The film, not his hair

His hair calmed down as the film went on I think. I assumed that it was deliberate and part of the character he was playing (strange Londonish accent - check, serial killer - check, luxurient hair - double check).

NooNakedJacuzziness · 13/03/2023 12:48

Tara Fitzgerald played Andy Serkis' wife apparently - never would've guessed! Thought it was a fun watch but agree it was v silly in parts - he was drenched from head to toe in freezing water but didn't even shiver!

I thought the ending was setting him up to be the next 007 Grin

This absolutely.
I really enjoyed it,but it was far fetched and reminded me more of a bond film than Luther. Good entertainment though.

Same Grin

PriamFarrl · 19/03/2023 21:32

I watched it today. Utter bollocks but good fun. How long could he hold his breath in freezing water? Who were all the people working for him? Other wrong uns or people he had something on?

NoCatsToday · 20/03/2023 22:09

Did we watch the same film?!? I've never seen such a ginormous pile of codswallop in my whole life.

Also the hair was a big issue. Huge.

Oblomov23 · 14/04/2023 21:07

Weak. Only just ok.

Yep we stopped watching half way through

Couldn't get over serkis bad bouffant wig hair colour. And how long it took them to drive to Dover, then walk the mile and a half in the snow. Agreed first hour was better, 2nd part poor.
