The Our Girl Addicts Thread 67 Stay focused, Stay alert, Stay alive and carry on....spying

We started to follow Our Girl back in 2014 and although there will be no further series, we do revisit from time to time. We have watched all seven series of Soldier Soldier to keep up our military terminology and have galloped through all three series of The Musketeers. There was a definite connection between Our Girl and The Musketeers in the delightful form of Luke Pasqualino. We are currently nearing the end of series 4 of Spooks but have agreed to take a short break after this series to go back to our first love - Our Girl and the consensus was to view series 2. Please join in if either Spooks or Our Girl grab your attention.

I'm ok for next Monday for the final episode. I don't mind another OG either, but not sure which series. Are we brave enough to do the Nepal tour or do we go back to where it all began and enjoy the Molly/CJ shenanigans?

Ilovelblue · 10/04/2023 22:01

I am happy with either of those Rhu so long as we avoid the death letter scenes.

I'm OK for next Monday. As for what to go with next. I won't watch Nepal, Nigeria or Bangladesh I'm afraid. Would be fine with series one if you decide on that and am happy to go back to Spooks any time.

Ilovelblue · 10/04/2023 22:11

Well why don't we do series one of OG then? I have a real fondness for CJ in that first series.

Do the other series affect your appreciation of CJ Magi? He did change so much after series 2.

Yes that is mainly my reason I think ilove but also I found the story line of Elvis and Georgie being at loggerheads to start with in Nepal series was not a proper follow on from series two where they were obviously on the way to a rapprochement. Therefore the start of Nepal was lazy writing in order to create a story of bringing them together again and then of course sadly having Elvis killed because LP was no longer available obviously put the cat among the pigeons for all those episodes they had lined up. After that it was all downhill.

To compensate they made Georgie stroppier than ever and CJ almost a nonentity without any proper story input and even introduced Bones and didn't know what to do with him really as a character.

Sorry this sounds like a right diatribe but my disappointment is obviously showing through. It all stems back from Lacey Turner not signing up for a second series I think. I know she and CJ could not have been in the same section but the story of a married couple in the army but in two different might have been possible.

I agree Magi, very lazy killing LP off, even if he was stupid enough to suggest it. He could have been kept alive easily, with references like the ones to Mollie, and encounters with Bones / Blue would have brought news and remember at the FOB Kingy had news from home on his phone but we neither saw nor heard anything from Mrs Kingy until the wedding.

PS - sticking with Mondays?

If the police and counter terrorism suspect something, why are they still letting people into the shopping centre?

At a guess to avoid panic, and so they know for sure x, or so they don't spook the suspect's etc

LP is a relatively unknown in his 30s …

I’m happy to stick with Wed, I’d just had a couple off conflicts when I was away / had visitors.

Hawkins003 · 17/04/2023 20:39

Hope you have an excellent holiday @Ilovelblue

Rhubarb01 · 17/04/2023 20:57

Evening, all ready for the final episode of series 2.

Ilovelblue · 17/04/2023 20:58

This holiday is a "blow out" one and something we talked about pre-covid. Almost if we don't do it now, we might never do it. Suffice to say I am not thinking about how much it is costing! My motto is you can't take it with you when you go.

Ready and waiting for the last in the series.
