I can’t get over the fact that Sandoval was with Raquel for 9 years. His mum had a relationship with Ariana for nine years and she didn’t tell her own son not to stop this affair.

I can understand why she was going along with what Sandavol told her to say, because he is her only friend left.
But it's clear, she knows Sandavol is going to drop her, soon.

I think she went into robotic pageant mode at the reunion, and I think thats why she broke down afterwards and explained the whole timeline. She had truly believed that Ariana wouldn't care cos Tom had told her "they were basically broken up." I guess if she didn't really care about finding out about James/Lala, then she assumed that Ariana would have been the same.

I suspect seeing how devastated Ariana was must have been a big shock because it went against everything Tom had previously told her.
