The walking dead, help me with the timeline/what to watch

So I was a huge fan but fell off the wagon around end of season 9. I think, maybe beginning of season 10 need to check without finding out spoilers. I know there is the fear the walking dead, I’ve just started binging that and up to season 3. Should I finish that before I go back to the walking dead? Do them both at the same time? Is there a third branch with Rick/Daryl in? I’m trying to find out without coming across major spoilers at the same time!

I couldn't get into fear. I tried my best, but Madison made me want to put her face through a wall. You're good till season 6 of fear I think.

Thanks @gamerchick i think thats how I feel, im on season 3 now maybe and it feels like im having to really put the effort in and not feeling it.

I think Fear The Walking Dead is a prequel to The Walking Dead.

Yes and also no. At first it’s a complete prequel, then it does end up combining the two

The World Beyond is not worth watching. It’s absolutely rubbish.

The final season of The Walking Dead has not long aired and there are 3 spin offs planned. I won't say who they're about so I don't spoil anything, I love TWD but could never get into Fear!

Did they though, or did they do the thing where it was left open for a return?

Has anyone watched the Daryl spin off? Or the Maggie/Negan Spin off?

The Daryl one is brilliant, Maggie and Negan was rubbish I thought and really not worth making, just my opinion though lol I’ve not started Daryl season 2 yet until a few more episodes are available..if it’s a good as season 1 I’ll binge the lot.

I liked the Daryl one and now started the second one. Didn’t like Maggie and Negan. The Rick and Michonne one was good.

The Daryl one is great! Wish for more episodes in the next series. I found the Rick and Michonne one a little dry, I think it is because I had moved on from these characters with them not being in the main show for so long? Only a couple of episodes in to the Maggie and Negan series so far its been ok.

I am plodding through to the end out of a sense of duty rather than enthusiasm. The plots start to become quite repetitive and how anyone actually gets bitten by a Zombie baffles me.

I love TWD. I think I was genuinely one of the biggest fans in the earlier years. The Atlanta quarry, the farm, the prison, the Governor storyline. They were all brilliant.

Alexandria was sort of where the wheels started to come off for me. Watchable, but didn’t have the same enthusiasm. Then when things splintered off into The Kingdom, Hilltop etc, I fell away completely. Have tried to get back into it but without success.

Like others, I did my best with FTWD. Made it through a bit, but just couldn’t continue.

The circle scene involving Negan’s group will forever be my favourite. The distant whistling that Rick’s group kept hearing was so unsettling at the time. Not to mention the things that went on when Lucille came out…

@Kibble29 that’s it, the plodding on trying to watch. I gave up and haven’t seen any of the new spin offs or the latest TWD series as I’m still trying to restart and can’t. I’d missed the new series coming out! Where do you watch them?

Yeah, I haven’t watched any of the spin offs (except when I attempted FTWD). The original series is all on Prime for free, the spin offs are there too but you’ll need to pay for those.

I got to the season where they had made their own little village place and it all went a bit weird.

At that point I would have been happy to be eaten by a zombie rather than watch any more episodes.

I came to the show late, hated Zombie shows and films. I became a big fan and have watched all the spin offs (available on UK TV). I liked Fear, some great characters like Daniel, Strand, Alicia and Nick. I liked Morgan joining the show but hated the huge switch up of main characters when that happened. I'm loving the Daryl and Carol spin off better than the Negan and Rick ones, they were OK but missed all the other TWD characters imo. The world beyond wasn't the best but was interesting in how other compounds thrived in the 10yrs post breakout.

do we ever know what caused the walkers / zombies to begin with ?

I stopped watching after Negan arrived and have started watching from the beginning again. I used to love it but not sure I have the energy to keep going. Do the spin offs stand alone or do you need to finish TWD first? I have the Daryl and Dead City recorded.
