It's Harpic. Admit it's Harpic.

jay55 · 23/02/2023 20:46

I thought it was antifreeze

EsmaCannonball · 23/02/2023 20:46

And I'd rather lick Harpic than have anything to do with a goat's yoghurt mousse.

Allezvite · 23/02/2023 20:48

So having been told your horrible bitter blue lolly was horrible and bitter, you decide not to change one thing about it?!

EsmaCannonball · 23/02/2023 20:50

Laszlo's pudding did sound pretty gorgeous. I think that and the Womble dish are the only two that tasted good and hit the brief.

I said that and I jinxed him. Sorry, Laszlo.

Plastic toys and some sand 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

littlbrowndog · 23/02/2023 20:55

Even the judges look tired and bored

jay55 · 23/02/2023 21:02

Let's hope next week is full of delight.

The chicken just looks so depressing. Think of Spencer's beautiful-looking main last year.

This is making me want to watch the banquet episode from last year again to cheer me up after this dire week

LIZS · 23/02/2023 22:24

Just waiting for a chef to produce to PawPatrol party plates and declare it hits the brief. So unimaginative and lame. Hoping for better things next week.

OnTheBoardwalk · 23/02/2023 23:07

The photo doesn’t do it justice with the pipe sauce and the ultraviolet light

I really want those noodles and all the other Chinese food, but it wasn't really on brief - and it's a no to cold chicken.

I want Andi Olivers dress - Ive tried to search where its from, but can't find it tagged anywhere.

LaMarschallin · 24/02/2023 13:44

I think sometimes they just decide what they want to cook and try to shoehorn it into the brief - Carolina was particularly bad for that: cooking something random, then standing a plastic toy next to it doesn't make it themed or related.
That's why Spencer, imo, was so good (apart from being a brilliant chef): he really seemed to start with an idea, then created food to suit it. His Churchill's cigar was total food art.
I think it only didn't win in the tie break was because it would have been ridiculous to have him cooking three courses Grin

coffeestrongblacknosugar · 24/02/2023 18:20

this week was a blt 'blah' and shoehorned in to fit the brief, you are right there.

Im waiting for Scotland to do its thing! Spencer is a fabulous chef and Id love his food on my dining table every night

AreolaGrande · 25/02/2023 21:52

Just wading in for the first time to say that as if the BBC morally mandating a mushroom vegan course is not bad enough, the choosing of guest judges who have dietary restrictions, don't seem to enjoy food or just don't appear to know much about it is just befuddling and is not fair on the chefs.

Ah so your main course is based around a bone marrow glazed beef fillet? Jane Horrocks will mark you down on a king oyster mushroom (her 14th of the night) that has been carved to pretend to be beef. But isn't.

Make it make sense.

LaMarschallin · 25/02/2023 22:04

AreolaGrande

I could have written that!
Well, I couldn't - you put it much better.
But my sentiments exactly!

Theeaglesoared · 26/02/2023 08:41

The last two weeks have been dire. Almost too embarrassing to watch. I miss Oliver Peyton's facial expressions.

I used to love this programme. I'm not sure I can be bothered to watch it anymore. Such a shame.

EsmaCannonball · 26/02/2023 13:43

I felt the old judging panel became a bit sour and too joyless, but the new panel is just a bit bland. They haven't found the right balance.

I don't think it helps that this year's brief obviously isn't striking a chord with the chefs but, aside from the odd dish, none of them seemed touched with inspiration so far.

Wolfcub · 28/02/2023 20:02

Evening all. Hoping for better things this week

jay55 · 28/02/2023 20:03

Evening, bit behind on iPad.
Ready for some imagination from the Scots.

EsmaCannonball · 28/02/2023 20:05

Adam was pretty good but he memorably threw a strop and snapped at the waiting staff.

EsmaCannonball · 28/02/2023 20:08

'What Scots can do in the kitchen.' Tattie scones, square sausage, clootie dumplings, scotch pies, paradise slices and pineapple tarts. For the life of me, I have never understood how those pineapple tarts are associated with Scotland. Pineapple and Scotland?

EsmaCannonball · 28/02/2023 20:08

Ooh, and Tom Aikens also threw a strop when the chefs helped each other. We could actually have fisticuffs.

jay55 · 28/02/2023 20:09

The mini taco looked fab.

Good job Tom wasn't around the last two weeks.
