Starts here in Oz 30th January so thought I'd give everyone a heads up if you're watching in real time with us.

In case anyone needs a reminder this will be the spoiler/up to date thread. Someone else can start the UK pace one.

I though the men's and women's sex talks took really different approaches. Both seemed slightly designed to make people uncomfortable but they both seemed more focused on women's pleasure vs couple pleasure. Did they give the men prostate massagers - maybe I missed that. No one needs to do anything sexually they aren't comfortable with. More isn't always better.

I know the Brontë messages look bad, but I have a slightly different take on it.

Yes, she knew there was a scumbag going into the experiment. She may well have decided to show him a lesson...

But none of that actually excuses any of his behaviour. Just because she knew he was a dick before the wedding, doesn't mean he isn't a real life dick now.

I might have said the same if I was signing up for this and found out someone was an absolute fuckboy. I might say to someone that I want to expose him too.

I'm not sure it changes very much given it's all massively staged anyway. We quite often find out after the event that some participants had met each other before - even just on social media.

It would be interesting for them to do a survey to see when was the last time each person went on a date or had sex before the experiment. I think expecting a long period of celibacy and singleness before a reality tv show appearance is a bit extreme. These are people cast to be entertaining. Finding love is very much secondary to exposure and to ratings / views etc. It is a produced and edited show - and people know to get airtime you need a story. Boring, quiet, kind people - first they don't get cast and secondly they are quickly forgotten. I don't really have an issue with cast members still casually dating before the show. This is a reality tv 'experiment', they haven't even met the person they will be linked to on the show, and drama and conflict is what makes the show a tv show - if there wasn't a villain or drama or conflict or cheaters, it wouldn't be a tv show. They all want to be on TV more than they want love. And what you see on TV is the character they are playing to get that exposure and airtime. Sure, you see their general personality but we only see little snippets that the producers and editors want us to see. For example - they chose to point out two people who had slept with someone within a week - but quite possibly there were a handful of others who had also done the same but that isn't their storyline on TV so it doesn't make the show. Every couple needs a storyline to get them airtime and the storylines have to be different to be interesting and entertaining.

Imagine being paired up with a guy that had Melissa's attitude 😩 I'm actually not surprised Josh doesn't even want to hug her incase she goes full on body hugger and whips his drawers off. Def too early for toys and talk of bum fun.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 14/02/2023 11:15

As an aside, I’ve NEVER met a man who wanted his prostate tickled. I’m early 40’s - in this a new thing that’s now in vogue? I am FIRMLY in the camp of ‘it’s an exit not an entry’

Sagealicious · 14/02/2023 13:07

Shannon is beyond fucked.

It 100% does not excuse his behaviour or make her deserving of it. That wasn't what I was wanting to say about it.

I love the show, don't get me wrong, but when people stay in purely for the fame it sort of ruins it... No reason why she should stay knowing he's a fuck boy. Best way to teach him a lesson is get him kicked off the show.

It's not just them two either, also looking at Jesse and Claire for the same reason. By writing 'stay' Claire has shown she cares more about air time than finding love and definitely more than she cares about him and his wellbeing.

Watching today’s - Shannon is beyond a douchebag!

Oh I have!

He was the first and only one who was actively interested in that.

I'm early 30's and this was over 10 years ago

lifeissweet · 14/02/2023 15:16

Oh I hear you @SliceOfCakeCupOfTea!

It does spoil it when they are in it for the fame. I just think most of them are to some extent, but none as blatantly as those two.

I think it's actually good that Brontë and Harrison were put together for that reason and there isn't someone like Sandy in the mix who, so far, seems genuine and isn't going to want to play the drama game for insta followers.

I thought he was quite good looking at first. He has pretty eyes, but that wore off extremely fast. He is such an ugly person and now I just see him as a red faced and shrivelled creature.

The way he spoke to Caitlin when she finally stood up for herself was a major peek behind the curtain. I think he is a very nasty, toxic man with major issues.

He doesn't care how hurtful he is. 'You are an attractive girl, but just not in my eyes' is a hideous thing to say to anyone. It's not even trying to soften the blow. Then the jaw-dropping follow up of 'I wouldn't be thinking about my ex if I fancied you' (paraphrasing)... no words. Utter weasel.

Yup! I totally agree. You can tell who the genuine people are and, while it may not make for the most exciting TV, it is nice and sweet to see the success stories, either for them as a couple or as individuals

Shannon is beyond fucked.

Nasty, nasty rotten man. He gives me violent man vibes too.

Caitlyn is a fucking Queen and she deserves so much better

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 14/02/2023 16:02

To say “I wouldn’t be thinking of my ex if I’d found you attractive” is deplorable

StephanieSuperpowers · 14/02/2023 16:04

I know it shouldn't have anything to do with looks and nobody should be spoken to like that in any circumstances, but personally, I think she's lovely looking and seems like a very nice young woman.

TitsInAbsentia · 14/02/2023 16:09

Just watching now. He is disgusting. It's almost like when they first did the intro interview with him he'd said I am usually a bit blunt was almost an excuse for him being a c u next Tuesday. He's gross. Furthermore if his ex wants to get back with him then she's an idiot. I hope his dick is lonely forevermore now that he's been exposed on (inter)national tv.

TitsInAbsentia · 14/02/2023 16:11

Oh lyndell....are you purposefully putting yourself in the middle?
Dan and the boobie lady been spotted?

StartupRepair · 14/02/2023 19:28

Melissa in real life is now saying it was an unfair edit. She has also been hassled by men turning up at her workplace offering to shag her.

canina · 14/02/2023 19:46

Can anyone give a link to episode 9 onwards?

canina · 14/02/2023 19:51

Ahh, I got it by going to 8 _ next episode>

marchella · 15/02/2023 04:48

Melissa was crazy going on the show and carrying on like she has. I feel for her family. Mortifying. Why will not just shut up about how "sexual" she is? It's such a turn-off ( as a pp said). She doesn't even have the excuse of being a silly 22 yo .

LoveMAFS · 15/02/2023 06:47

I have one more episode to catch up on but I wanted to say I'm proud of how Jesse has conducted himself with his apologies. Though I'm wondering if something will come out at the very end that proves the chat between Clare & Adam & then he may go ballistic again. They have those reveals at the end don't they?

Josh wasn't listening to Mel last night. She said let's take sex off the table & get to know each other and that still wasn't enough for Josh. He does have issues. Why have they paired her up with someone so far in the opposite direction?

I hope Harrison gets roasted by the ixperts again. His date with a photo frame was a piss-take.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 15/02/2023 08:06

I honestly cannot wait for the dinner party tonight.

Although I don’t think the ‘revelation’ about Shannon is that shocking really. Contestants have always been allowed to meet up with their kids inbetween filming. If he said “shhh” it’s probably because he didn’t want his ex to meet a fellow contestant. IIRC his ex was kicking off and wanting to message Caitlyn directly. They sound immature, made for each other no doubt 🙄

That was really weird, wasn't it? Almost as if his ex feels entitled to have a pop at Caitlin for stealing her man.

Not that he signed up to marry someone else or anything...

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 15/02/2023 08:45

🤣🤣 I’m amazed the little runt has 2 women remotely interested in him.

He looks like he’s in a boy and circa 1996
