Doesn’t the on the beach advert make you want to scream with the entitled family and how horrid it is?

OP posts:
TwoMonthsOff · 04/02/2023 18:47

I’ve not seen it but I LOVE the Warner adults only one with the Shining Grady twins in

Samsonsmum · 04/02/2023 18:47

I feel sorry for the fat boy. Even if he loses weight in years to come someone will always be able to remind him

TwoMonthsOff · 04/02/2023 18:47

I think they actually turn into double/triple lots of Grady twins

IncompleteSenten · 05/02/2023 08:29

What do they do that's so awful?
Yes the boy does a very normal sibling shit thing to his sister but it's not like he's out there tying firecrackers to dogs tails.
Apart from that they're what? Jumping around a bit?

So the terrible things that are gross and revolting are

being happy.
One sibling teasing another.
Being fat.
Eating.

Did I miss any?

Why is the family overweight? What’s the relevance of that?

Am I imagining it or did there used to be a version of this in which only the dad and son were overweight, or was that a different holiday company? I remember it infuriated me that the males were "allowed" to be fat but the mum and daughter still had to comply to female beauty standards.

Might have been a different company. Anyway, I agree, awful advert.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 05/02/2023 09:24

I've obviously lost sight of what a normal weight is because I think the mum has a lovely figure.

Yes. They’re not middle class.

Lordofthebutterfloofs · 05/02/2023 09:52

I bet their house at home is on a council estate, decorated in shades of grey and b&m accessories with 'be kind' on the wall.
Dad is a self employed contractor and mum works part time as a hairdresser/nail tech.

Lordofthebutterfloofs · 05/02/2023 09:55

Oh and they have a summerhouse (shed) in the garden with some shelves and a 'bar' the call 'the Smith arms'. Its got barmatsand bottle tops on the wall and solar powered fairy lights from b&m.

Orders76 · 05/02/2023 10:02

I don't understand why I holiday company would want you to laugh or identify with these people.
It's the flip flop in the face makes me ragey.

IncompleteSenten · 05/02/2023 10:32

BitOutOfPractice · 05/02/2023 09:45

Yes. They’re not middle class.

Of course!
Silly me.

Thenewsisnext · 05/02/2023 10:36

It's definitely aimed at a certain demographic

iklboo · 05/02/2023 10:45

@Lordofthebutterfloofs - I think mum is a MLM bot on the side as well. Earned enough to buy the flip flops but will post all over social media that it paid for the holiday.

First exploration will be to find an English pub that shows the football on Sky and offers the Full English breakfast and everything else 'with chips'. Karaoke at night.

BitOutOfPractice · 05/02/2023 10:57

@IncompleteSenten (love the name!) what were you thinking? 😉

The snobbery on the thousands several threads about this ad is just horrible. Really horrible.

Flymetothetoon · 05/02/2023 10:59

Meh the ad is doing its job to get the company the publicity it wants. Threads about this every other week on MN.

Anon300 · 05/02/2023 11:58

The snobbery on this thread is typical MN. I'd sooner go on holiday with that family than some of the sneery fuckers on this thread.

That's funny because that's how I imagine the homes of a lot of the posters commenting on here.

BertaHoon · 04/02/2023 18:33

Bring back Iggy Pop.

No no no no no no no

BlueLiz · 05/02/2023 18:45

I wish the girl would shove his ice cream in his face! Why couldn’t they have made it nice with him giving her his ice cream? We are always telling our kids to “be kind” I think this advert is just awful it annoys me every time it’s on.

I live rurally in a detached house and I'd bloody love a 'bar' like that! Grin

BitOutOfPractice · 05/02/2023 20:43

@thenightsky can I pop in for a drink? Sounds great!

Sounds like you are well acquainted with this style. Presumably describing your own place?

Monty27 · 06/02/2023 05:35

It looks like a holiday from hell to me. And as for the music ARRRGHH!!

Gistbury · 06/02/2023 06:01

Not only can I not watch this advert, I now can't listen to what was a much loved Christmas song

Seeleyboo · 06/02/2023 06:10

I would say it's trying to portray a very normal family. Siblings are awful to each other and most families are a bit wobbly and imperfect. Unlike the other holiday adverts that show the perfect family or couple, all loved up and romantic and airbrushed. Most ads are annoying but at last, someone got real. I also think body shaming a child is incredibly cruel and as all on MN are supposed to be adults, you should be ashamed.
