Drama starring Joanna Scanlan, Iwan Rheon and Alexandra Roach, about a woman still grieving for her daughter who disappeared 18 years earlier.

Sharon Roberts (Scanlan) has spent nearly two decades searching for her daughter Ela's (Ella Peel) body. Shortly after she vanished, mild-mannered gardener Joe Thomas (Rheon) was arrested and charged with her murder after Ela's DNA was discovered in his caravan.

Joe confessed to her murder but refused - or could not explain what - he did with the body. Now Joe is being considered for parole, and if he is released, Sharon's greatest fear may be realized: she will never get Ela's body back and the past will torment her for the rest of her life.

Journalist Cat Donato (Roach), who's originally from the same town, has always been interested in Ela's murder. It's a very personal story for Cat, who has always kept an eye on the story, and the news that Joe is due for parole prompts her to return home to write an in-depth article and discover the truth one and for all.

But will she be welcomed back to the town where she grew up? Meanwhile, Sharon is also desperate for answers - and she'll go to any lengths to get them...

Yes, quite a few characters . The three men , Ela's father, Joe's father and the man who loves Sharon , all look very similar , which doesn't help !

Caryl, Nina and daughter ,Joe's father all seemed to know what happened but we'll have to wait until it's tied up 🤔

Ela's father was married to Sharon but is now married to the rather glamorous Sali.

This and Mme Blanc tonight! I may have to delay MB till tomorrow, cos I can't remember exactly how this ends. The main thing I did recall was the Wyn/Shelley business, but can't remember the detail about Ela.

Blondes , the grey haired lady is Nina , she had some sort of connection with Joe's father at the time of the murder , can't remember what or if it just hasn't been mentioned .

So who fancies Sharon now

Ha ha ! Anyway, Gafyn is Ela's father. He's Sharon's ex husband but I think he still likes her.
Dai is her friend who helps her out and told her he loved her.

I haven't watched the final episode yet, they're bound to throw in more confusion ..

Gafyn is Ela and Greta's step father, their real father is dead. Didn't realise that till last night's episode.

Finally got round to watching this last night.
Thought first episode was confusing not knowing who anyone was etc...carried on watching,only to realise it had jumped straight to the last episode.
Lol 😆 oh well it's one way to watch a series.(dont actually recommend it)

I think the step mother has the patience of a saint! Treated badly by her H and dismissively when she tries with Greta.

Strange ending , a father letting his son take the rap for a murder he knew he didn't commit .

but I thought couldn’t be as no dad would allow their son to take the hit for a murder he knew he didn’t do

His dad was obviously shown to already be a vile man as he sexually abused his daughter. So I suppose letting his son take the rap was par for the course for him

I've just finished this, after getting more and more exasperated with each episode. Utter tosh. And its denouement was much the same as in Without Sin. I wonder how these things get made. Does the cast have a sinking feeling as it goes along, thinking, God, what have I signed up for?
