Vardy V Rooney - anyone watching?

I'm enjoying it so far, although I don't know much about the case. All I know is that Colleen Rooney worked out who was leaking stories about her and then Vardy sued her for libel?

I enjoyed this, but it's sad that 1.5 mil was spent on it.

Micheal sheen is always good value in any drama !
His been good up to now

I would watch him for the gorgeousness value alone! Be on my back faster than an octogenarian on an ungritted pavement.

But I watched in catch-up and thoroughly enjoyed it - but thought the ending seemed a little anti-climatic. The Radio Podcast series (Wagatha Christie) was even better and was the real reason I tuned in to this.

Great show, though

Borin in real life, boring now. Spanish woman looks nothing like.

Emotionalsupportviper · 24/12/2022 17:15

Ah!

I enjoyed it - and I'm not a follower of subs as a rule.

Emotionalsupportviper · 24/12/2022 17:21

*slebs, not subs

(Come on autocarrot - it's Christmas for heavens' sake!)

longwayoff · 24/12/2022 20:44

Merry Carrot everyone

Also wondering why the court didn't ask the sun newspaper who fed them the stories?

tribpot · 29/12/2022 07:39

The Sun had gone to the High Court separately to get a ruling that they couldn't be made to reveal their sources. This being a well-known principle of journalism, and the Sun being well known for both principles and journalism 🙄

Emotionalsupportviper · 29/12/2022 09:42

Good to know that the Sun, that upright, independent protector of truth and revealer of corruption, continues to stand courageously for the brave journalistic standards which have made the British Press a byword for honesty worldwide, @tribpot .

Makes you proud to be British. 😁🇬🇧

portocristo · 29/12/2022 09:53

Ah didn't know a newspaper could do that.

I actually feel really sorry for PA. It's so personal and now this drama plus the London play - he has wanted people to stop and not been listened to.

pilates · 29/12/2022 10:35

Didn’t CR try to prevent it going to Court but RV refused? I watched it, passed away a couple of hours.

longwayoff · 29/12/2022 10:40

Eh? Deep curtsey here to any royals who have wandered in by mistake. Am looking forward to PA The Musical. C4 tonight 9pm

She did.

Offered both personally and via her lawyers on about 3 occasions to drop the litigation if RV would publicly apologise (IIRC) - RV refused.

RV was definitely given the opportunity not to be dragged through the courts, but declined to accept it. And as a result she is umpteen £££ down and the channel is littered with smartphones.

Powertoyou · 29/12/2022 15:15

Enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would.
Could someone explain a few things to me?
could the Sun have come out and say no we never paid RV for any information? If I was RV I wouldn’t of minded the Sun saying that if it was true.
why was RV not asked for bank statements to show she hadn’t been paid?
Why did the agent not give any evidence or a statement?

tribpot · 29/12/2022 15:41

On the payment thing, I would doubt that people who leak stuff to the tabloids get paid directly, I'd assume it goes via third party companies or comes in the form of gifts or perks (for some reason gold wallpaper and holidays in Mustique come to mind). However, in this case Rooney didn't actually accuse Vardy of selling the stories (wisely, since she could have no proof of payment) only of leaking.

The agent was apparently 'too fragile' to testify.

Emotionalsupportviper · 29/12/2022 20:45

The podcast is very enjoyable, if you like to listen to the radio when you're pottering. There're about 20 episodes in total.
