I think the situation in Canada makes it more complicated because it isn't the simplicity of life in Gilead, those in charge, those being oppressed. In Canada there are not just those at the top taking decisions, but also different factions of people. There are no sides, just conflicting interests.
From memory I am sure there was an earlier occassion where Aunt Lydia was a sort of marriage broker. Was it Nick's first wife? Aunt Lydia had had a higher status than now because of her failure to keep the Handmaids in check. Again wasn't it Lawrence who contrived to put her in her place and she was relagated to some lower job.
I felt this episode was too filled with plot twists (which of course will make us want to watch the last episode) and felt a bit contrived.
I dont think Hannah has any memory of her life as Hannah. Maybe writing the name is a bit like having bits of dreams that are memories but you aren't sure what of.
If you were the woman in the car who rescued Serena what would you do? But thought it was really good, but sad, that the Martha was trying on all occassions trying to make Serena's situation better. I hope she doesn't suffer some dreadful punishment.
On a superficial note I have not heard of the hairstyling that June is said to have. I thought it was meant to look dirty and uncombed as an indication that she was still not really functioning and wasn't bothered about appearance! Are women really paying to have this done? But then she was wearing really stupid heels with her jeans. How is she going to be able to carry out acts of daring do in heels like that?
