Can't see a thread. What is this shite?

OP posts:

The shield is a total set up so it'll go to whoever the producers want to get it. Its a pity that the producers started this manipulation lark really. Its too obvious they are doing it e.g. Tom and it makes an otherwise decent show into something more like Love Island. Shame really.

But is it set up? There are three boxes, and they can each choose any random one, can they not?

Pretty sure there is another internal door and the boxes can be empty until the ‘chosen one’ enters the room.

burnoutbabe · 14/12/2022 09:00

In theory if they wanted the 2nd picker to get it, they can ensure no shield in any box, then before 2nd goes in, put one in all closed boxes.
Then remove after 2nd pics.
It's possible.

Itaintwhatyoudoitsthewaythatyoudoit · 14/12/2022 09:04

Amos needs to be murdered.

I have a feeling they have been told not to take Maddy.

Will is making it obvious now with the pained and exaggerated expressions. I think Aaron is the only reason he hasn’t been selected.

Yes I think the same. Bit too much of a coincidence Tom got it.

They go in just before the mark does and put a shield in all unopened boxes, then remove them before the next person. You can do this stuff in stage magic with concealed spaces, it's a piece of piss between TV takes.

I think they were hoping for Alex to get the shield but she didn't put herself forward.

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 14/12/2022 09:46

I've just caught up. I'm loving it.

Was it me, or was it a funnier episode? I was in stitches as they kept coming across a bigger and bigger barrels. Andrea's comment about living alone and loving the experience of being around so many (younger) people really got to me too.

They're starting to crack now, things are becoming personal. Natural I guess, at this stage, but difficult to watch as they probably really care about each other.

Not sure what all of this, "you're not my 100%" means.

I wonder where they all sleep and how they keep the traitors separated. I'm guessing they're in a Travelodge somewhere? And presumably have breakfast at the hotel before they start filming in the castle dining room (which has more flowers than croissants).

I want them to take out Alex.

IconicKitty · 14/12/2022 09:50

Wilf gets on my nerves, I'm surprised he hasn't been banished yet. I'll be annoyed if he ends up winning.

ReneBumsWombats · 14/12/2022 09:57

I think they still don't realise that traitors can betray each other, despite the name! They are probably thinking of it as two teams, which it both is and isn't. I think Wilf will get found out eventually...someone will work it out, or maybe Amanda can sow the seed of traitors being treacherous...

Twonewcats · 14/12/2022 10:26

I'm not convinced they'd manipulate the shield in that way, though - the BBC are v careful about things like that now.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 14/12/2022 10:28

I think Amanda will only stitch up Wilf if it's a choice between her and him getting banished. Whilst a lot of them want to win I'm not sure any of them are fussed about whether or not they share the pot with anyone. Which means that Wilf and Amanda don't really want to lose each other.

If we've only got 5 episodes left, the faithfuls are running out of time to get rid of traitors (unless the rules change of course) because they get one chance each day and they keep screwing it up. Whereas for the traitors there are 2 opportunities every episode. I think Alex declining the invite has shaken things up number wise. If she'd accepted, there would be one more traitor to banish, one less faithful so she's made it a bit harder for them. But no-one seems to be learning lessons from each faithful banishing, they're still going by who seems nice and fluffy.

When Amos asked Amanda what she thought last night I thought he might be onto her but sadly not.

caringcarer · 14/12/2022 10:30

I like the show and tonight the traitors have to murder in plain sight, whatever that means. Could it be they have to in person hand over the murder letter to person who is murdered? I would think they will murder Alex as a punishment for not turning to become a traitor. Might make next person offered think if I don't accept I'll be murdered tomorrow night.

ButtonSister · 14/12/2022 10:43

I don't think the shield thing is set up. It's a bit of a red herring anyway. It's not getting the shield that's important, it's getting in the team that gets a chance at selecting the shield that's important, because in effect the traitors will avoid killing any of that team that night.

ButtonSister · 14/12/2022 10:46

I think they'd be making a big mistake killing Alex. It will tell the others that if they don't accept an invitation to be a traitor they'll get killed too, meaning that they'll only accept under duress and are more likely to betray Wilf and Amanda, rather than support them

ButtonSister · 14/12/2022 10:47

Do you think Amos would accept an invitation to be a traitor?

ReneBumsWombats · 14/12/2022 10:47

Are the traitors told in advance who has the shield? And if not, are they allowed to choose again if they select the protected person or is there just no murder that night?

ButtonSister · 14/12/2022 10:51

The traitors will only know who has the shield if that person discloses it. So far each group has decided that whoever has it won't disclose, which in effect protects the whole of that group
I don't think the traitors would get a second chance that night to murder, but that hasn't been expressly stated as far as I know. It's why they never murder anyone who may potentially have the shield

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 14/12/2022 10:52

No I reckon they don't know. Wilf seemed surprised when Amanda produced it. I would imagine that they aren't told if they've chosen to murder a protected person. They just see them come in for breakfast and think 'Shit!' whilst trying to look really pleased about it.

ReneBumsWombats · 14/12/2022 10:59

That would be a good move, actually. They would experience genuine surprise and someone might pick up on it.

WhatsitWiggle · 14/12/2022 10:59

The traitors don't know who has the shield unless that person says. The groups so far have decided not to tell each other, effectively protecting all of them. If the traitors tried to murder a shielded person, they fail and don't get another chance, so it would be a wasted turn.

But the second group included Amanda, who got the shield, so they could have chosen to murder someone from the group (unless there's multiple shields but so far seems to only be one).

Perhaps that's a future twist...multiple shields, unknown to them all.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 14/12/2022 11:07

How many faithfuls are left now?

But that would have given Amanda away as a traitor. As it is, the traitors don't know which of the group has a shield because the group don't say so they keep the whole group safe. If they murdered one of the group it would be because the know who has the shield, and the only way they could know is if the shield was won by a traitor.

burnoutbabe · 14/12/2022 11:23

well they would know ONE of the group is a traitor, but not which one of the ones left.

if the group was 5, 1 killed, so 4 left inc Amanda - the other 3 would know it was not Them, therefore the traitor is one of the other 3.

Or that the traitors wanted X out and didn't care if it only had a 1/5 chance of working!

Adultchildofelderlyparents · 14/12/2022 11:23

@Sweetpeasaremadeforbees I think there are 10 faithfuls left, and 5 episodes to go.
