Anyone else think Matt is much better and more natural without the scripted double act with Noel?

This is the final. It’s dreadful thanks to producers

No it's unnecessarily mean but no one is crying at least

None of these 'bakes' have impressed me and I would not be tempted by any of them. When I think back to the old days and how magnificent they were I feel quite sad!

And why suddenly go,vegetarian on the last night?

This series has not grabbed me and the final is not doing it for me either.

The series hasn't grabbed me at all this time but I don't really know why. It's felt a bit flat. I may need to head off to Masterchef at 9.

I'm so tired of every showstopper being turned into a sculpture or construction of some sort.

I was watching a bread week episode of Aussie bake off yesterday. Showstopper was pretzels. Just simple pretzels. One sweet, one savoury. It was so lovely in its essential simplicity. The focus was on the baking and the flavour. That's how it should be.

The judges are also really harsh, I much preferred the Australian bake off but then to praise an egg and cress sandwich in the final? Seems far too basic!
