Ok, so Digital Spy has told me that Wendi Peters was a one off character called Nicky Connolly last year- but they are shamelessly bringing her in as a 'proper' Doctor now . She even has a 'back story'- her parents are solicitors, and her partner was also a doctor/consultant, but passed away having a stroke.

I get the feeling they are trying to distance her from Cilla Batttersby as much as possible
