As the current thread is restricted only to discussing what is actually happening on the show, I thought I'd set up a spoiler thread where Instagram posts, Daily Mail articles etc are allowed to be discussed.

In no way is this meant to replace the main thread and discussions about the show. Just so that comments that are not allowed are able to be discussed.

As crude and OTT as Gemma has been I think the editing has being ridiculous, to allow it to be aired when Matt said she ‘masturbated in a restaurant’ was just purely for the drama and the headlines, the fully threw her under the bus.

I don't know what Kwame is hoping to get out of the process. He adds nothing and is clearly not interested in Kasia. I'd say he has a partner at home and is hoping the show will boost his career.

I have to agree with this. Unless there is some seriously shady editing, and although Gemma said Matt was crude with his remarks on the wedding, it was clear from the offset that the remarks needed to be toned down and he asked her to do as such. I think he's a prick, and I don't doubt she feels horrible coming out of the process and with the editing, but she needs to own that she's vulnerable, needs validation and was far too brash for Matt (and indeed most people). Explaining that it's a sense of humour doesn't really cut it in a day and age where people say racist comments are just a 'joke' - it's arguably not as horrific, but making crude jokes and being sexually aggressive (which is what I saw it to be) isn't a good enough excuse. Just own it, rather than blaming other people.

Gemma was in this for the exposure and the opportunity as much as anyone. She has realized now that she can get a lot of people to fall for her woe is me, poor misunderstood woman, evil misogynistic world angle and make money off this. A few tears and people fall over themselves sympathizer her and demonizing Matt.

I agree with you. This also makes it hard for her to be called out on her unacceptable behaviour. She still sees absolutely nothing wrong with what she was saying or has acknowledged how it would make other people extremely uncomfortable being confronted by such vile language. As nuts as Gemma is, the real villains are still the people working for Channel 4 who must have know how damaged she is and then were happy to watch her walk into the lion’s den anyway.

Been listening to the MAFS hysteria podcast, and Paul the Ixpert was on. He’s been married to his wife for 21 years! He also said that in previous seasons viewers fed back that they were bored when marriages went well and everyone got on and that feedback has shown that viewers love drama so contestants are selected on compatibility with another contestant and the ability to make good TV. Interesting.

We have only had 2 seasons, one with no drama and one full of drama. How much feedback could there have been? I would rather watch people being boring and building good relationships, like the Sewing Bee or Bake Off. Than fake, manufactured drama.

Where on IG was this? I can’t see it on Adrian’s IG page?

There were about 5 seasons that used the ‘old’ format and that’s where the feedback that nice = boring came from

I also think that reality tv show producers have a duty of care to those indirectly affected - eg Gemma's children.
I think future generations will look back and be horrified at the reality tv shows and general lax regulation around dependents and also more widely the lack of protection for children - see vloggers

If the parents aren't concerned about the impact it's going to have on their heartbeats then I can't see why the show would. I really pity Gemma's dc, I can only imagine the playground jokes that are going around. And she's linking her OF on a public account.

Oh. I thought that there was only one nice season. Either way, that doesn't mean that they should have done a complete 180 and just made fake drama for ratings.
