She was missing in episode 3 too. Lots of scenes by herself. I assumed they were filmed separate at a different times to the others. Strange really you would have thought they would have a contract. Unless they knew she could only film up to a point. It fitted in well with her wanting to be sucked off lol

@MrsLargeEmbodied yes, you mean the Radio Times article? I can't believe Katy Wix was Mary, Carol in 'Stath Lets Flats', and also Fergie in 'The Windsors'. She was hilarious in that and so completely different from Mary that I didn't recognise her as the same actor!

Perhaps it wasn't Katy Wix choice to leave, she's tweeted since the episode but nothing about Ghosts or sad to leave Mary behind etc.

Although it was not entirely clear from the podcast they did shoot with Katy after that scene and have not ruled out Mary appearing in flashback. Much of this series was still under covid protocols and each episode required the cast to be filmed separately or in pairs/threes which may account for the isolation (Robin was alone and Humphrey pretty absent in ep 4)

I think it was her choice to leave, I don’t think they’d have written her out if she didn’t want to leave. She just seems to have such a lot of other stuff going on.

She recently wrote a memoir, mainly about grief, I think? in the wake of losing her mum and dad and her best friend in quite a short space of time.

And then I read somewhere that she’s co-writing/co-creating a new sitcom about one of those weight loss “camps” for children.

I always get the impression with Katy Wix that she doesn’t want to get typecast as anyone in particular. She also left Not Going Out while Daisy was still a popular character. That’s not a criticism, it’s brave of an actor to call it a day on a role.
There was a gentle story progression with Mary, I felt. She always refused to talk graphically about her death and although seemingly shy, she really stuck to her guns when it mattered to her. I think the other ghosts underestimated her and didn’t necessarily recognise her quiet strengths. Except for Robin, who is a wise old soul indeed ❤️

I’ve just bought that book @LemonJuiceFromConcentrate . I think she will be an excellent writer.

I saw a video on Twitter on one of the shows writers page where they filmed the apology song and that was filmed with the actors separately.
I think it would have been nice to see why she was 'sucked off' as with her mentor in how she found her voice you understood why the mentor went

I loved Season 4. The character development just gets better and better.
