Ridley is about a grudging cop whose daughter and wife have been murdered in an arson attack 😢😢

he retired early due to medical grounds due to the murders

a farmer is found dead and di carol. Farman heads up investigation and is keen to get Ridley’s help

The plot of ep 1 has been done before hasn't it?

Was an easy guess especially as Catherine had a similar look to Zoes mum!

I watched episode one; it was bloody awful, wasn't it? Really quite old fashioned, like an episode of Morse from the 80's but without a decent storyline. And not one iota of tension!

I don't think I am a fan of the 2 hour in one night complete story. Much better to have 6 hour long episodes, leaving the viewer gasping at the end of each and desperate for the next installment.

Whoever scheduled Ridley must be entirely cheesed off to be on at the same time as The Capture - which is brilliant.

Watched on catch up with no ads so only an hour and a half long which is fine.
Easy Sunday night viewing, not too taxing on the brain but just got to say AD’s singing is absolutely shite! Please don’t make us suffer any more of this. Stick to the acting Adrian, you are not a singer.

He did sing - but only for a bit (although it was very corny - sort of a duet).
It’s obviously part of the series that we get a song every episode, but I wish they wouldn’t.

I’ve watched up to now. It hasn’t been baaaaad.

However, I’ve been distracted.

I only see Alan Partridge. In his sports casual. When he is detectivising and more so when he sings.

I thought this week's episode was turgid to begin with but improved slightly. I just find the whole thing very dreary and I can't stand jazz which doesn't help. Two hours is a bit long to drag the stories out and I find the lead character so boring with no personality. I thought last week's episode being called Swansong would be the last but there's another one next week. I won't be in a hurry to watch series 2.

How can such a great actor be so bad in this????

Mind you I though the same about Roger Allam & the tripe he was in recently.

I like Adrian Dunbar and Bronagh Waugh as a double act but the scripts are awful.

Just don't run season 2 at sane time as Shetland, both quite similar!
