I remember the Joanie song!
. I am old though
Poor Ridley though. The other lady detective was a 'baddie ' then !

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/08/2022 22:06

I’m young. I don’t know the song

i enjoyed that

nice to have all completed in one night

Enjoyed it but it was just a bit too long. Might have been more realistic if the little girl had been two, not three. At three years old, she might have had memories of her former life.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 28/08/2022 22:59

I really enjoyed that. The acting was very good, much better than some other recent dramas.

John Stape from Corrie was Daniel Preston!

The female DI also appeared in the trailer for tomorrow's The Suspect!

JaneJeffer · 28/08/2022 23:01

Well I missed the first hour and didn't even realise until I read here that it started at 8 Grin

There's not much to it. I feel like we've seen it all before. Widower, bar woman, single mum cop, etc.

Rummikub · 28/08/2022 23:08

But there was unexpected singing. Though I can’t deal with him
singing - he needs to be stern at all times.

JaneJeffer · 28/08/2022 23:18

Yes the singing was strange Grin

scunner · 28/08/2022 23:20

Thoroughly enjoyed Ridley. Adrian Dunbar is a terrific actor. A fine cast, good storyline. I thought it might be similar to a Ted Hastings performance, but should never have doubted Mr Dunbar’s acting abilities.

scunner · 28/08/2022 23:20

Loved the singing especially the first song.

JaneJeffer · 28/08/2022 23:21

I watched the first Cracker episode the other night with a young AD. He was brilliant.

hattie43 · 28/08/2022 23:22

Very slow , I was gonna give up tbh but saw it through . Not sure I'll watch next week

JaneJeffer · 28/08/2022 23:23

@Blondeshavemorefun have you got a thread for The Suspect?

Loved Cracker.
That prog led to an increase in interest in forensic psychology.

Exactly!

I hope he won't be giving us a song at the end of every episode.

JacquelineCarlyle · 29/08/2022 00:55

I really enjoyed it, except for the singing!

Rummikub · 29/08/2022 01:09

They should get him
on masked singer so he can scratch that itch

JaneJeffer · 29/08/2022 01:11

@Rummikub Grin

the80sweregreat · 29/08/2022 06:24

It'll be like Jane McDonald at the end of her lovely trips she bursts into song. Mr R will do the same !

ilovebrie8 · 29/08/2022 07:15

I liked it except for the singing. Thought the female DI’s girlfriend was an odd one....I couldn’t think how she fitted in thought she was helping out /family member when she was in the kitchen. Just didn’t see them as an item

Xmasbaby11 · 29/08/2022 07:18

I found the story a bit obvious and slow, but enjoyable for a Sunday night drama. The cast was great - we kept pausing to discuss who the actors were! I will definitely keep watching. I do love Adrian Dunbar.

Love the fact it's some remote village with only one dated Italian restaurant, etc but enough custom for the jazz bar!

Piggywaspushed · 29/08/2022 07:30

I thought it was pretty bad actually (especially the singing - is AD plugging a soon to be released album of Christmas Crooning!). Sooooo many cliches - lonely retired cop, in a much nicer house than he could afford ina remote but picturesque area, listens to cool music and owns vinyl, bit scruffy yadayada. Glad they didn't make AD drop his accent. On a side note , I do think Bronagh Waugh is awfully good at the NW accent!

The ending was very very obvious. I was feeling very smug and then came on here and realised everyone else saw it a mile off too : it was when the cast member virtually shouted 'and she didn't have her MMR!'. Anyone who home schools their DCs will be offended by the lazy stereotype too...

And what was Julie Graham even in it for (doing some migratory accent)? Just an easy pay cheque?

Sorry, it was a turkey for me.

Yes @JaneJeffer here

I did enjoy it ; I agree it was lazy writing and the obvious cliches , but I loved seeing the snow and people in jumpers and AD is very lovable
It was easy to follow too.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 29/08/2022 09:45

Chipping in, I was in the kitchen at the end and heard dh laughing, he said he just came into the club and sang Cole’s Corner! He said it was like a 70s American detective show where they all had a schtick. That and talking to his dead wife. I’m calling that the cop in charge will be a bad’un.
