Still not sure how I've flipped from someone who thought on first seeing Colbourne....

Although it was patently obvious to me from the moment we met Colbourne that he was the hero, I shamefully admit I thought " I'm not sure he's good looking enough to be the hero". I loved the interview and by the time he said "brace yourself" I had started to fall.

I have been speculating (or making up stories in my head) about the cliff top scene. Charlotte is carrying a book. What if she rushes away and drops it and he picks it up to find the cornflowers pressed inside? 🙏

Oh yes, many of us think the cornflowers are in that book!

He does have the X factor. He's definitely attractive but not in an in-your-face way. But I think it's Colbourne I'm in love with! I do like complicated heroes.

He's definitely attractive but not in an in-your-face way.

From some angles his face is not superb but he just grew on us, (some of us), and in the archery scene his profile is great. He grew on us because we got to know Alexander.

For me he's the opposite of Sidney. At first glance Sidney is good looking but then when you look at him properly he's not really and has a cruel kind of look about him. Xander has a really kind face and that swagger.

Sidney had* *an air of arrogance, almost disdain at times. At first glance, you may think Xander is the same but I think it's just the wall he's built around himself over time. He's shy, nervous and unsure of himself in company, as he admits to Charlotte at the garden party. If he was arrogant, he'd have continued to pursue her and completely ignored Lennox, but he doesn't think he's good enough for her.

I wonder whether he's going to try to advise Charlotte against marrying Ralph because she doesn't love him as Xander himself was married to someone who didn't love him and it was disastrous.

I don't care who Ralph ends up with, if anyone, as long as there is plenty of smouldering looks, Colbourne waistcoats with sleeves rolled uppy, and declarations of undying love, leading to a HEA for Xander and Charlotte. Am liking the look of Xander's brother acting as his wingman Grin

I guess I won't see it until ITV1 show it next summer?? I will spoil it for myself, of course, by looking at the SM threads as it airs in the US in March, because I am impatient and can't wait a moment longer than I have to, to know what happens! As AC would say...."I cannot!" Grin

In S2 I thought I would wait for ITV but I read reviews every week and looked at Youtube clips, often made by Susan Firth. In a way I suppose I spoiled it for myself. Eventually I paid for Britbox and watched on there, more or less. It's £5.99 a month and I intend to cancel after S3. I watch it on Britbox on my laptop. I've never subscribed to anything before, just this £5.99 a month.

The sun is shining on the frost. I must take myself away from Mumsnet and Reddit Sanditon, and The English, and Strike.
