Blimey - even better than could have hoped for. Anybody else watching? Had to resist watching more than 3 tonight...

@Punkypinky an ordeal in an emotional way! Bright-eyed, cheery Death, accompanying people who have just realised what has happened - total sobfest. It was beautifully done. Just very affecting.

Punkypinky · 20/08/2022 17:47

@Saucery ooooh I see, I totally misinterpreted what you meant I thought you found it a boring ordeal or something. I thought they did those two so well, nearly verbatim to the comics except they left out the 'death is before me' poem from the comic which was a shame because I loved that. I've been on holiday so only on episode 7 now. Excited an extra one popped up while I was away. 🥳

TeddyBeans · 21/08/2022 10:02

Well the Calliope episode definitely explains why Dream is a bit of a dick through the rest of the series. I'm getting more and more tempted to buy the books 🤔

baffledbunny · 21/08/2022 21:05

Hey just wanted to mention that there's an 11th extra episode that;s appeared on netflix called "Dream of a thousand cats"! It's a standalone story and I vaguely remember it from the books but I read them so long ago I can't remember the tale (or tail lol) but anyway I just thought I'd flag if anyone wasn't aware it was there.

I only know about it from a random comment on facebook, otherwise I don't know exactly when they put it up (unless I missed it from the beginning lol).

Anyway looking forward to watching it soon!

WhatHaveIFound · 22/08/2022 21:46

DS and I sat down to watch the final two last night and discovered they'd added an 11th episode!

Anyway we watched 9 last night and 10/11 today. DS is already asking if there's any more coming? Anybody know if there's going to be a second series?

This is what Neil Gaiman says Article about renewal.

ButtOutBobsMum · 23/08/2022 07:02

I love Neil Gaiman but I've struggled to get into Sandman. Tried reading it too and had the same problem. I really wish they'd televise Neverwhere and the Graveyard Book!

nokitchen · 23/08/2022 07:19

@ButtOutBobsMum Have you seen the old adaptation of Neverwhere? It's brilliant. I've got it on dvd and watch it about once a year

Love Neverwhere but I think The Graveyard Book is my favourite Neil Gaiman book (apart from sandman series). I know it was written for teenagers but it's such a good story and so visual, and the characters just come off the page. I might reread it again for Halloween!

And speaking of Halloween, one of my most favourite Neil Gaiman short stories is "Snow, Glass, Apples"- his retelling of Snow White with a twisted edge. 😈I read it every year as it's just so scary and brill. You can read it online here for free: thedreaming.moteofdust.com/1999/10/10/snow-glass-apples/

I didn't even realise one existed! Just found it on Amazon and bought the digital version. That's my bank holiday sorted-thank you!

ButtOutBobsMum · 24/08/2022 06:54

@baffledbunny a Halloween version of the Graveyard Book would be fab! Such a great story!

Lullabies2Paralyze · 24/08/2022 06:56

I loved it. Not watched the bonus episode yet but finished the season. I have read most the graphic novels so was looking forward to this for years!

currently listening to it on audible. It’s very good on there. More like a radio play as it’s got different actors doing different characters rather than just one narrator

cexuwaleozbu · 25/08/2022 11:35

I saw an article of an interview with Neil Gaiman saying that it's an insanely expensive series to produce and season 2 will only be commissioned if it stays really really popular for a long time. If it's mostly just geeks who read the originals watching it and liking it, that's not enough. If we want season 2 we need to get out there and tell all our friends to watch it, especially those who might be thinking of cancelling their Netflix. And we all need to watch it again and rate it with a thumbs up and generally boost it up.

nokitchen · 25/08/2022 16:26

@ButtOutBobsMum so glad you've got it! The Marquis is just the best character ever
