I'm tuned in. Loved that poem on the more uncomfortable things about the 'commonwealth' . Loads of colour from the presenters outfits. Anyone else watching?

I thought that they should have played Black Sabbath when the Australians came in.

wonderstuff · 28/07/2022 23:07

Couldn’t work out how I’d missed Duran Duran, then they came on and I remembered I turned over late and am watching on iPlayer! Shouldn’t be allowed out on my own!!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 28/07/2022 23:09

I enjoyed it, I thought there were sone fantastic puppets, and the bull was great. The bit in the middle was a little odd — quoting from the Moonbeams household "It's like a Tim Burton film, if it starred Julian Clary".

I loved the athletes' parade, probably my favourite bit of the whole thing. I could hardly bear to watch Max climbing up those Perspex plates though!

I could hardly bear to watch Max climbing up those Perspex plates though!

Agree - that was very weird

I thought it would be UB40!!

Trouble is....some no longer with us Sad and others no longer talking - if if they do say anything, they are at war.

They were played though (along with ELO, Black Sabbath, etc)

I liked the way they included so may different genres.... Birmingham Royal Ballet dancing to Black Sabbeth ....... the combined choir ......Tommi Iommi......the Symphony Orchestra.....the military..... the volunteer dancers and so on.

It was the glassses he put on at one point that topped it off

Definitely. He looked like a highlighter pen. Grin

Angiedx · 29/07/2022 00:50

I was there for the ceremony
was great but more than anything the atmosphere was electric
such fun and happiness all round
being under the firework display was incredible

now I would just like one of those spare Jaguar cars 😆

Diegofrompennyburn · 29/07/2022 06:25

I enjoyed the creativity and diversity. Yes, it's England's show, they are allowed a big cheer. Did Tom Daley knit those sparkly pyjamas for the last bit of the relay?

Duran Duran have sounded like that for years, to be honest, and I thought the songs they chose best suited the occasion.

The bull is amazing, I'm so glad that will remain in the city, and I look forward to visiting it some time.

Well done to all the performers and creatives and technicians who put that together [applause]

Hellocatshome · 29/07/2022 07:47

The plate climbing thing was very tense and presumably cost ££ in insurance, he is a gymnast after all, a broken leg would not have been good for his career..

sashagabadon · 29/07/2022 11:24

i'd like to see the Bull go on a tour of England after this - would love to see it walking the streets of London

the80sweregreat · 29/07/2022 12:05

I'd love to see the Brummie Bull tour too !

Kite22 · 29/07/2022 17:55

I am definitely going in to town to see the bull next week. Smile

Choir is good

Thank you (I was in the choir)!😁

CPL593H · 29/07/2022 21:04

I've only caught the trailer today so very late to this but..

a) I have fond memories of the pork scratching stalls in the 1960s Bull Ring but really have no idea what the Hell the rest of the country, let alone the Commonwealth, will make of that bit

b) Lenny Henry and Julie Walters (both featured heavily) Are. Not. Brummies. OK, the Black Country were clearly prepared to loan them purely for this event. Tommy Shelby (whose cheekbones had a starring role) well, OK, Brummie Grin

Come on Brummies!

AlecTrevelyan006 · 08/08/2022 08:04

UB40 among the headliners for tonight’s closing ceremony

littlbrowndog · 08/08/2022 21:02

Thanks brummies. Loved every moment of these games. All the crowds. Different sports. Packed venues to every sport

thanks. So sad it’s over. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Punkypinky · 08/08/2022 21:54
