I liked Kadie at first but the daft little girl act is getting a bit wearing. However her and Alejandro seem to to be the most genuine relationship.

Bridie is just awful. I couldn't believe the way she behaved on that weekend and couldn't believe Host didn't take her straight back to the airport never to see her again. All she seemed to want to do was spend all weekend in bed having sex. If it had been the other way round Host would have been accused of being a creepy pervert. Agree about this obsession about getting a proposal without any thought about actual grown up plans for the future. She has the emotional depth of a puddle.

Shaun and Christine, is on a highway to nothing. He's in his 40s, lives in a grotty flat and found the whole situation with Christine so stressful that he packed in his job as a cleaning manger. It was hardly that it was the CEO of Tesco or anything. No resilience and no maturity. A lot of the issues seemed to be caused by the fact he had no money and lots of debt yet thought it was a good idea to pack in his job. Christine clearly expects him to provide for her family at the Philippines. She was leaving her daughter who only looked about 4 or 5 (I could wrong despite the fact Shaun's allegedly been with her for the past 8 years???) and she kept saying she was doing it for them so clearly expecting money. Also thought Shaun winging that the flat was a tip including Christian's bedroom was ridiculous. You don't money to get things tidy and only a little money to keep them clean. That won't last when Christine realises he's got no money.

Nothing I can really say about Richard. Truely awful and bringing his son up to be like him! I was also a bit confused about him being resident parent. He kept boasting how goes out about midday and carries on drinking until the early hours of the morning. Thought it may have been a bit set up for the cameras. I am hoping that what his ex meant was that he disappears when there's parenting to be done ie during school holidays. He struck me as the ultimate Disney Dad.

Not sure where to start with Victoria and Shaun/Sean. Is she stupid or something. There is absolutely no chemistry and more red flags than a communist parade. She just seems so obssessed with Japan that any Japanese bloke will do.

I think the 4 or 5 year old ‘daughter’ is Shaun’s son Christian with hair bunches.

No she was older than Christian. Christine has 4 children; two teenage boys; a 4/5 year old daughter and then Christian.

Apologies for my mistake then. I wonder who’s that child’s father? Her husband’s?

Episode 5 isn't on Discovery + for me! Where did you all watch it?

I've just caught up with this. It doesn't have the same grab as the American 90 day version.

I work with someone who met a Phillipine bride. It cost him the best part of £40k to get married, get her a visa and support her for the 5 years it took to get her here. He's heavily in debt, and financially supporting her family back home as well as her. She looked about 25/28 on her photos but clearly used lots of filters and she's nearer 45/48 in real life !!! She speaks the bare minimum of English and just smiles inanely at you whenever she comes into see him at work. It's beyond weird............. then again you can't imagine the poverty over there, and marrying a balding fat miserable 55 year old being your best option in life.

I have no words for Richard. He makes my skin crawl............

It wasn't visible on my discovery + either so I went to play the end of episode 4 and then it rolled over on to episode 5.

Surely Katie could have learned a little bit of Spanish before going to Mexico. Doesn’t have to be fluent but she didn’t even know how to say Goodnight.

I thought that, it looks like she has made zero effort to learn any.

Richard is just so odd, firstly where do you even buy clothes that awful?! His behaviour is so so odd, one minute he wants a free live in cleaner, the next he is seemingly saying the right things to his friend or his girlfriend. He comes across as two different people at times. He definitely isn’t a 5/6 out of ten, much much lower.

Alejandro should have taken advantage of Kaydees love of Dennys etc to get her to like Mexico more, he missed a trick there. Quite disrespectful that she hadn’t learned any Spanish at all. I also thought the grapefruit was a potato!

Bridie seems to have forgotten her children in all this, I know she only left for the weekend which is fine, but to want a man you have met once to live with your children is surely a huge red flag.

Shaun is just so vulnerable, but not even bothering to sort his sons bedroom, you could see he had the furniture etc but he hadn’t bothered building it. Where does he expect him to sleep?!

The second the show aired, my mom and I recognized him. Even when his mother called him "boytjie". My mom said that he looks exactly like this friend that she had when she got out of high school. None of my mom's friends seem to be able to find his socials... seems like he just disappeared. My mom and I have this conspiracy that this shaun guy is actually her old time South African friend. He is definitely afrikaans though. Any Afrikaaner can tell another by a mile away haha

That lady from Clackheaton will be left homeless once she has sold off everything to keep her Iranian groom in designer gear. That "relationship " is so bloody exploitative. WTF is she thinking?
Bridie too- selling her house to bring Host here? And where is she going to live afterwards? I doubt that he's going to be putting up with her bunny boiler ways for long.
I felt sorry for Christine having to deal with Shaun's disgusting flat. And she's yet to discover his debts.

So true. Although Bridie's from Rotherham and the other lady from Cleckheaton so I actually wondered if there's something in the water pop in Yorkshire (and I'm an ex Yorker myself and would never dream of selling my home for some man)!!

Where is Birdie going to live once she sells her home? Doesn't she realise that rents are generally higher than a mortgage? Also on top of Bridie's extremely jealousy, controlling behaviour and petulant sulking he's definitely going to dump her when he realises he's got a lifetime of being referred to as 'Ost'.

Both Bridie and Kathleen are accused of being jealous/controlling....but is that just because their men are out with other women?

The only one that has accused Kathleen of being controlling is Richard, and he is a cheating, sexist swine according to everything we have seen so far.

Bridie herself says she's a jealous and controlling type. She has been kicking off about the smallest things- like Host hanging out with friends. So far we are yet to see him actually warranting her suspicions and accusations.

I agree with @dillite. I don't see Kathleen as controlling. She has what I can see totally normal boundaries and Richard has already cheated on her.

Host doesn't seem to have done anything untoward. Bridie seems to be one of those people who thinks a partner/boyfriend shouldn't speak to anyone of the opposite sex in any circumstances. She's constantly going on about who he spoke to and why he didn't tell them to immediately go away. He's in for a big shock when/if he comes to England. She won't let him out of the door without her.

This week it felt like nothing happened.

Kadie is starting to do my head in with her dumb little girl act. Alejandro has been going out of his way to show his town and culture to her, and all she was doing is moan about absolutely everything. I just wanted to slap her. And why is she always acting like some little girl? I just can't see this relationship working out, even if they do seem genuine. For now.

Japanese Shaun. Has he said a single true word? Because all he still seems to do is lie. Victoria needs to dump him. She needs to learn how to love herself. Or at least respect herself. It is better to be single than to date....that.

Richard is a fucking prick. The end. Not a single redeeming quality to that man.

Overall, there just seems to be a huge lack of development and growth in general. And just action. Barely anything seems to be happening- we just seem to be watching the same few bits over and over each week.

Yeah that’s the trouble with all the recaps and “coming up next time” you end up watching the same clips over and over again!

Needs to step up a bit, making us wait a week at a time.

I agree, it’s too slow. This week was a lot about Richard, who I don’t care about at all. Also, who cuts Victoria’s fringe?
