100% with the producers manipulation and constant Top 3 convos.
It's such crap tv tho. Must be designed for 15 years old.

I think the stupid producers hate with a passion any natural conversations being shown.

Does anyone else notice they try to copy little phrases from the previous series? And I don’t just mean message but also the cringey “she’s going on a date date date date…” from last series it was “she’s going on a date, she’s going on a date” there new one doesn’t seem to flow as well and sounds odd 🤣

Can only imagine how much Gemma Owen was paid to go on the show.

Agreed. The conversations they do have just seem to involve them saying "how are you feeling" to each other about 10 times

I think we're in to 'recollections may vary' territory, if it becomes necessary to justify what skin tone counts as black. She's a biracial woman, and she would have romped home by a frigging mile if she and Ovie has coupled up as friends.

I’m interested to see where Gemma & Luca go. I don’t like either of them (particularly him) but they have chemistry. I think Gemma’s still top dog, Ekin Su has made a bit of a tit of herself by overplaying it. The SpongeBob thing made me turn inside out with embarrassment

I didn't say she wasn't black. I'm saying she is not a dark skinned black girl. If she had been, and had also been with a black guy, I highly doubt they would have won. There was so much hate for Kaz and Tyler last year remember? And also remember that the general public and not only racist but misogynistic. So whereas they may be ok with black men, not so much black women.

A friend of mine said its a known fact that mixed raced girls are are much more popular with white guys compared to black girls.
You do see white girls with black girls. But it's not as common apparently.
I think its a shallow thing. Men thinking mixed race is more stunning exotic.

True ime and can be a fetish thing as well, it’s just the “right” amount of exotic, so I don’t think mixed race girls are comparable in this situation

Sad to read Liam's gone, as he's a nice normal lad who could have been fun. Can totally understand the reality of being there is probably boring and weird(all sharing a room and beds) and not wanting to stay though.

@A580Hojas Can't stand is probably a bit strong but I didn't like one of his early conversations with Gemma when he was a bit of a dick about his qualifications and I also find the combination of his accent and the soft tone of voice slightly creepy.

Interesting discussion re race I’ve only watched 3 series before but they all had a black woman picked last in the first line up and then continually ignored or somebody’s last choice/quickly cast aside for a new white islander, so uncomfortable to see. I have seen it mentioned on Twitter most of the men who go in seem to never been in relationships with black women (going by their social media) and don’t follow black women on Insta.

What a utterly absurd proposition to think people vote on skin colour!

Very few people think s/he's Black so I can't vote for them but there's a lot of unconscious bias at work in this show. There are always accusations of the Black women being aggressive etc. and they are also fighting against Western beauty ideals.

It's naïve to think skin colour doesn't affect how some people vote/perceive the islanders.

@minutesturntohours your continuous refusal to accept that racial discrimination exists on love island (and presumably the UK in general) is truly shocking. you have been repeatedly told by people who are affected by racism that your assertions that ‘it’s not a race thing’ are incorrect but you choose to deny their lived experience. I don’t know why you’re so rabidly against the idea that black people are often overlooked and disadvantaged in a variety of situations including love island. It’s unbelievable and you really need to have a think about why you get on like this
