Did anybody watch this just now? I've never seen self sabotage on that scale in a show like this.

It’s just a circus show now. I liked it when they did actual makeup not this stuff

Fritilleries · 01/06/2022 21:32

What is a make-up ar-ist? Or a count-er? Why are they all so simple? And what is Val wearing? It draws attention to her neck area which needs flattering, not highlighting!

Fritilleries · 01/06/2022 21:45

Why does Sophie have a beard????

Fritilleries · 01/06/2022 22:17

Oh thank god she's gone.

Cocolapew · 01/06/2022 22:55

Thank God she's gone. Pushing the gender boundaries my arse, she looked at like a woman with 5 o'clock shadow drawn(?) on. What a tool.
Lisa wasn't great this week. Ryan's horn looked like a penis with a disease.

Fernsinthegarden · 01/06/2022 23:52

I love Glow Up and everyone it represents. But I find it frustrating when some contestants try to make their gender identity the most interesting thing about themselves…it just becomes boring.

Emotionalsupportviper · 02/06/2022 06:50

I'm glad she's gone, too. Se didn't come across as interesting, gender boundary-testing or even charmingly eccentric - merely as a desperate attention-seeker.

Also disappointed in Lisa this week

HollowTalk · 02/06/2022 10:33

It's really interesting when they bring on make up artists who're working day in day out on fantastic projects and those women tend to melt into the background - it's almost as though they recognise that the attention shouldn't be on them, but on the work they do. Shock, horror for a lot of Glow Up contestants.

I couldn’t agree more.

This programme is about make up and the ability to create a face.

They are supposed to be showing their talent. You want people to say ‘did you see that sky face (or whatever)?’ NOT ‘why has that one drawn a beard on?’

I’m all for embracing individuality. I’m all for standing out. It is a quality I admire and am in awe of. I drift about in the shadows. I’m happy in my own weirdosity, I don’t need to look weird as well.

But I do think some are pushing it too far in an effort to show how speshul they are.

This programme could thrust some ever higher in their profession. But surely you’d be hired on what you can produce. Not what you look like yourself.

I loved Ryan’s message. But the horn looked like a manky knob to me as well.

There is no doubt Sophie is talented. But it was right that they went. Both did a good job in the chair off but Yong Chin’s was better.

I don’t care much for a powdery gob look either. Lips are supposed to be moist and juicy looking. For me it was crying out for a wee bit lipsalve.

jay55 · 02/06/2022 18:07

It was a weird technique to me too. But at least it showed off their skills more than gluing on some bits of plastic.

I thought the example lip looked like velvet and was amazing and I'd have licked it off in five seconds. I do admire the models for being able to put up with all irritating and uncomfortable looks.

Right person went, should have probably been asked to leave the second they started moaning during the campaign task.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 02/06/2022 18:29

Fair doos Jay

The example one did look amazing. I was probably thinking about it in practical terms too in that I’d have been all lucky at it.

Sophie should not have grumped through the task - and defo not in front of the client.

I might be alone in this but I think Lisa got a bit of a rough trot for her blending. I thought it innovative. All they have to do is show the model with the two pencils - a strap line along the lines of ‘Blend it like H&M’ -or ‘I-blend’ - job done.

My examples are shite, granted. But surely showing that your products are versatile is only a good thing? 🤷‍♀️

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 02/06/2022 18:29

Licky not lucky. 💋

jay55 · 02/06/2022 20:13

Agree on Lisa, if it would get people to buy 2 liners and not one, that can't be a bad thing.

Cocolapew · 02/06/2022 23:21

That's a good point about the liners.
I like the way Ryan is confident enough to stop, he never second guesses himself, if he's finished before the time is up he doesn't faff or panic.

RoofFlower · 02/06/2022 23:22

I didn’t really think any of the H & M looks were that good but I thought Lisa’s was nice, even if she didn’t follow the brief. Didn’t like the one that won. Just looked like a bit of pink eyeshadow and not much else. Wouldn’t inspire me to buy the product at all.

Cocolapew · 02/06/2022 23:22

Another thing, do you think the models get asked if they mind having their eyes or mouth covered with the prosthesis etc?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 03/06/2022 00:01

I assume they must coco although they never seem to show it.

They make a big to do about ‘can I put primer on with my fingers’ etc., though.

I thought exactly the same.

I wasn't impressed with the H&M woman at allure: "We don't do that colour" attitude.

I also thought that she waited to see the judges response to the looks most of the time before adding her own two-penn'orth. It was as though she was thinking "Am I supposed to like this one or not?"

I don't think she knew much about make-up or how to apply it. Probably just how to sell stuff. Orhad been promoted beyond her capability.

Emotionalsupportviper · 03/06/2022 11:04

*at all, not "allure"

(Though a strangely appropriate autocock-up)

PinkDaydreams · 03/06/2022 15:51

Catching up so haven't read page 4 of this thread as don't want to see who goes this week. I'm watching episode 4, why are they allowed to make prosthetics at home and bring them in? Has it always been like that on every season, make things at home and take them in?

PinkDaydreams · 03/06/2022 15:53

Really like Rachel's work this week.

purplemunkey · 10/06/2022 23:50

All up to date with this now. Yes, Charlie was a twat in episode 1 - clearly didn’t know what a reverse cats eye was and responded with that childish writing. As others had said, there was no need for a ‘message’ in this environment. I’m sure they made some kind of gesture to the other contestant once time was up that looked to me like they were saying, ‘oh, that’s what it is’. Why they couldn’t just admit that I don’t know.

Anyway, I’m liking Rachel and Lisa at the moment. Quite like Nance, but she never seems to quite deliver in the second task.

I find Val quite annoying. I prefer the Irish judges. I also preferred Maura to Maya, though she’s harmless enough.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 11/06/2022 08:03

Guess who is going to cover her moth eaten and sparse eyebrows with sequins this week….

or not.

(right person went)

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 11/06/2022 08:05

I agree re Maura by the way. She just nips it.

jay55 · 11/06/2022 10:21

Ah yes another gluing challenge.
Agree right person went. Not sure they were the right bottom two.
