Wednesday 27th April, 9pm, BBC 1.

I'll be away for weeks 2&3 which is unfortunate.

@Snufkinhastherightidea it makes me want to learn to sew! It's inspiring. I'm sure I'd be terrible at it in reality.

LouisCatorze · 03/06/2022 13:57

What happens to the Sewing Bee winners? Do they find fame and fortune in the same way that the Bake Off winners do, or not?

I love it. Find it very therapeutic and impressed by the creativity of many of the sewers.

kittykarate · 03/06/2022 14:01

Quite a few have started working in the sewing industry www.thesewingdirectory.co.uk/former-sewing-bee-contestants/

Snufkinhastherightidea · 03/06/2022 14:06

@Innocenta i have tried 🤣 so I know for a fact that I can’t sew. I made my son a felt rabbit a few years ago and he cried whenever he saw it. It looked like it was a possessed demon rabbit !!

AnImaginaryCat · 04/06/2022 13:24

Only just caught up. Have to say I quite took to Cristian this well (if we're going on personality on who we like to succeed 😉).

Up to now I think I'd blurred him in with the bloke who only started sewing last week, who I found too competitive and over confident about his ability. The clips of Cristian showed him to be very kind and thoughtful.

CaptainMyCaptain · 05/06/2022 08:28

Christian has been helping Gill to renovate two sofas.

I like Cristian more and more each week!

LadyEloise1 · 06/06/2022 09:30

@CaptainMyCaptain That's lovely.
As someone who can just about sew in a button and hem, I am in awe of sewers and what they can achieve. I am particularly in awe of Gill.

LouisCatorze · 08/06/2022 06:43

Predicting Christian may have issues with the bra challenge tonight (but possibly less of one with the men's PJs).

SoupDragon · 08/06/2022 08:19

Thinking back, I'm not sure the men have had particular issues with bras when they've done them before. I mean, I wear them all the time but there is very little chance of me making one without stuffing it up! 😂😂 I know Gill has had no issues with anything else but I wonder if small pieces of slippery fabric might be problematic for her.

they are small * and fiddly but it's still just following a pattern.

  • at least I hear some are small.
CaptainMyCaptain · 08/06/2022 09:40

I made a bra in a bra-making workshop. It's about following instructions and sewing neat accurate seams. I'm not sure having breasts helped much.

Wolfcub · 08/06/2022 21:05

Evening all

littlbrowndog · 08/06/2022 21:06

Lace underwear. Scratchy stuff

Maireas · 08/06/2022 21:07

Lace underwear. Scratchy stuff

I was thinking the same. Not great for underwear!

SoupDragon · 08/06/2022 21:07

Why does Esme think Patrick is an underwear expert 🤔 What does happen at the show wrap party...?

legaltigger · 08/06/2022 21:08

This challenge is going to be really hard. I would really struggle with all the tiny pieces!

littlbrowndog · 08/06/2022 21:11

Loving this history

Wolfcub · 08/06/2022 21:11

That was an interesting and unexpected piece of history

littlbrowndog · 08/06/2022 21:13

Ludittes and everything 🤣

Halsall · 08/06/2022 21:14

I started learning how to make bobbin lace once at night school and it’s bloody hard. I didn’t last long!

Maireas · 08/06/2022 21:15

Well, none of these little lace flimsies would hoik my norks up (sorry, TMI)

Wolfcub · 08/06/2022 21:15

littlbrowndog · 08/06/2022 21:13

Ludittes and everything 🤣

We have local monuments to Luddites. Says much about the area

smilesy · 08/06/2022 21:16

@littlbrowndog depends on the lace. I have some really comfortable lace knickers

Piggywaspushed · 08/06/2022 21:16

Do you think it's harder to make small or big bras??

Wolfcub · 08/06/2022 21:17

Not ones of these brass fits the model
