Wednesday 27th April, 9pm, BBC 1.

I'll be away for weeks 2&3 which is unfortunate.

I think that Gill & Angela will go next, not sure in what order, then I can't call it! I'd like the final 3 to be Brogan, Annie & Man Yee as they're my favourites but not sure that'll be the case!

HelloSpringIveMissedYou · 26/05/2022 14:26

Cristian hasn't featured much so I'm thinking he'll make the final.

No idea who'll go next they are all on a par, I think it'll come down to the transformations as that's something you can't really practice.

SoupDragon · 26/05/2022 16:17

See, I think he's featured plenty. It's interesting how people see these things differently - I've not really noticed anyone not being featured as much as others, it all seems pretty fairly balanced.

Innocenta · 26/05/2022 19:54

I disagreed with much with the judging in the transformation. Surely they ought to consider what a real child would want to wear? Normally I think this is one of the fairest competition shows as far as judging goes, but it's ridiculous for Esme to favour a garment because she likes it when it's meant to be for a six year old! I thought the two that really has appeal for children were Man Yee's and Brogan's, so they should've been first and second, according to whichever had better technical sewing.

Ulysses · 26/05/2022 20:42

The transformation challenge rarely brings up a wearable garment, IMO, last weeks two coats into one a prime example. I actually thought the winning one is something you would see in the Zara Kids department, little mini versions of more adult designs.

Dragon, clown and Miss Havisham for me..

Me too.

Just caught up (I did actually watch live but er fell asleep in the made room measure challenge - long day!). LOVED Miss Haversham - absolutely brilliant.

Yep completely agree. No child I knew would have picked the dress that came top.

legaltigger · 27/05/2022 16:32

I felt like Man Yee was robbed! I loved her little dungarees

Innocenta · 27/05/2022 16:35

@legaltigger Man Yee has such an artistic eye; I love her. Really hoping she stays in.

LadyEloise1 · 27/05/2022 23:40

I thought Marni would go all the way.

So did I. I was surprised they sent her home.

Me too! I think she creates the clothes I'd like to wear (although not currently as I'm nearly 26 weeks pg!)

lollipoprainbow · 28/05/2022 12:16

Brogan seemed a little crestfallen at the comments on her bat costume which I thought they would love especially the umbrella wings! Loved the Dalek too although find Gill a bit negative. Can't believe Esme said she wear Angela's dress ! It's for a six year old, my dd certainly would have picked the dungarees !

CaptainMyCaptain · 28/05/2022 14:23

I thought the Bat costume and Dalek were good too. The Miss Havisham outfit didn't really do it for me (because apparently none of them had read the book and didn't know anything about her)and the best thing about it was the little girl's face.

LouisCatorze · 28/05/2022 17:51

I'm a Cristian fan and think he's quietly getting on with his sewing. He came second twice in the most recent episode which is pretty good going. Always nearer the top than the bottom.

I think clowns are pretty much standard Halloween garb since IT was written and filmed.

I was very surprised that Marni left this week, as I'd had her tipped to win from the off. She's clearly very good at sewing but lacks that super creative flair.

LadyEloise1 · 28/05/2022 17:55

Miss Havisham is based on a real jilted bride they say.
She lived in Dublin in a grand house on St Stephen's Green - No. 77 - it is being turned into an hotel.

LouisCatorze · 28/05/2022 18:05

Brogan has a certain 'look' to her makes which to my mind makes her less versatile a bet to win than some of the others.

AnImaginaryCat · 28/05/2022 18:25

I liked the Darlek was great but would have benefited from being longer - if it had been ground length then it would have given the impression of gliding (like a Darlek)

Maireas · 28/05/2022 18:33

Waves to @LadyEloise1 ! 👋
I had read that about Miss Havisham - I love Dickens and Great Expectations is one of my favourite books. It does irk me when people don't get the character right!

Maireas · 28/05/2022 18:35

I definitely thought that the clown costume was the best (it's definitely a Halloween theme nowadays), but I also liked the Dalek and the bat. Brogan made good use of an old umbrella for the wings!

LadyEloise1 · 28/05/2022 18:36

Apparently Charles Dickens stayed in an hotel on St Stephen's Green - it may have been the lovely Shelbourne Hotel - and heard the story of the strange woman who lived across the park square.
Don't quote me on this I'm not 100% sure.

SoupDragon · 28/05/2022 18:41

I liked the I'm really bat wings but I do think they would have been better as a fabric cape attached to the hands so there could be swooping.

TheMooch · 30/05/2022 11:57

Loving the history lesson on the real Miss H.

Surprised Marni was sent home. In the 1st two weeks she annoyed the hell out of me but they edited her better recently.

I liked the bat wings- it's something I would now do having seen it.

I hope Cristian hangs around to the final, some of his creations have been lovely. And I do think when Deborah does a good one - it's stunning.

AnImaginaryCat · 30/05/2022 12:31

This is interesting about the house in Stephen's Green:

The tale of a jilted bride and the city centre mansion

ButtonSister · 30/05/2022 12:39

If Marni had stayed who should have gone instead? I like Gill but think she was a very close contender. The Dalek costume was great except there were no armholes, the arms either had to be tucked inside or out the front holding the sink plungers, so not good for a child to be truck or treating in.
