Wednesday 27th April, 9pm, BBC 1.

I'll be away for weeks 2&3 which is unfortunate.

Marni at the beginning thought she might win, I think. She's a tad over confident

Maireas · 25/05/2022 21:57

I thought the clown should have been gotw.

Hepzibar · 25/05/2022 21:57

Surprised I thought Marnie would make the final

Jellykat · 25/05/2022 21:58

Shame for Marnie, she had a crap week but was good up until now

Same

Marni started the series well but definitely had to go this week. They are all good though so hard to make predictions for next week.

Me too! Surprise.

CaptainMyCaptain · 25/05/2022 21:59

It's a shame we got to see so much of next week's outfits at the end.

SoupDragon · 25/05/2022 22:08

Jellykat · 25/05/2022 21:50

Dragon, clown and Miss Havisham for me..

Me too! I couldn't choose between those three. Miss Havisham didn't look anywhere near as good on the mannequin at the end though.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 25/05/2022 22:12

Bugger. But right decision. Just not her week.

Allegiance switched to Annie and Man Yee now. 🧵 🪡

Cuck00soup · 25/05/2022 22:22

They are all good now aren't they?

It's going to be harder to pin down the final 3 than most years.

2Rebecca · 25/05/2022 22:50

I think the clown should have been marked down as not halloween. Esme even said it made her laugh, totally missing the garment spec

SoupDragon · 25/05/2022 23:16

I still have Cristian and Man Yee earmarked for the final. I'm finding the third spot tricky though. I think Gill and Angela will go in the next couple of weeks followed by Annie. Then it's Brogan or Debra for the third final place.

of course, this assumes none have a surprise disastrous week! The middle and top packs are far closer in skill than usual.

ArmWrestlingWithChasNDave · 25/05/2022 23:22

I had Marnie down as the winner. I think this is the first time I've been wrong!

Now I'm thinking Brogan.

Ulysses · 26/05/2022 07:31

They're such a nice bunch aren't they? It's a shame when a consistently good contestant goes out for having a poor round but c'est la vie. I really am warming to Debra and I like her personal style. Her cat skirt was awesome and paired with black and white top so it wasn't twee and that crown of fingers was very macabre.

I could see Brogan becoming a bit unstuck with garments that don't follow her own style rules. I loved her pullover. And I saw on instagram that she is having a baby herself. Lovely news.

It was nice to see Cristian getting some focus. He reminds me of Riccardo who was a bit of overshadowed in the first few weeks before coming into his own. I think he could have won if it wasn't for his disastrous finale dress.

jay55 · 26/05/2022 07:51

Think Marni came unstuck from it being a made to measure that relied on creativity and not sewing skills.
She's too practical for that sort of whimsical.

Still a good week all round, nothing half finished or missing elements or totally botched.

knittingaddict · 26/05/2022 08:20

Whitney168 · 25/05/2022 21:20

Do we think Brogan knits too and made her jumper?

I thought it looked like crochet in the body and knitted ribbing, but it was hard to see. In the end I decided that it looked like a commercial item, rather than hand knit/crochet, but I'm interested to find out.

knittingaddict · 26/05/2022 08:29

I admired the judges for sending Marnie home. She's obviously a very good sewer and was building up to the final, but she had a terrible made to measure. It was by far the least creative of the bunch and the concept failed. Unlike some I did like Marnie, but it was good that the judges went with the worst on the day, rather than saving a talented person who could well have won the whole thing.

SoupDragon · 26/05/2022 08:44

I think they should change the format so that no one is eliminated, they just score cumulative points each week and the one with the most wins. Then we don't have to lose anyone and people can make up for a bad week.

I thought it was quite scary. Some people don't like clowns,

CaptainMyCaptain · 26/05/2022 08:50

I just had a quick look through Brogan's Instagram and she only shows one knitted item - a very simple sleeveless vest top in chunky wool - so I don't think she made that jumper.

I couldn't quite decide whether crochet or lacy knitting either. She just seems to (I think?) have been wearing clothes she's made herself so far, so wondered if her own creation.

Whitney168 · 26/05/2022 08:53

Loved the clown last night - haven't really noticed Christian before, but he had a cracking week - but did think Deborah was a shoe-in for GOTW, not least because her child model really 'sold' it.

Surprised Man Yee didn't at least come second in the middle challenge.

SoupDragon · 26/05/2022 09:02

The Sewing Bee Instagram page has a photo of Patrick in the Esme wig 😂

SBAM · 26/05/2022 12:43

Brogans put on her Instagram that the jumper was ready to wear, not made herself.

I think the final three will be Debra, Cristian, and either Man Yee or Brogan.
