Wednesday 27th April, 9pm, BBC 1.

I'll be away for weeks 2&3 which is unfortunate.

Oooh, I can do something that hardly any of them can do, I can mitre a corner. It's a quilter thing.

Me too. It's a curtain thing. 😀

I really liked Christian's dress, Annie's was OK. I didn't like Brogan's but it was truly 70s and I would have worn it then. Loved ManYee's fabric but it didn't bear close inspection. I never would have chosen Gill's for GOTW.

Steve going solves the problem of distinguishing between him and Christian but the standard generally is much, much higher this year.

I felt some of the duvet covers were new and had just been washed a bit. Brogan's stuff is twee but at least her duvet cover and GOTW looked like real 2nd hand duvet covers. Some of the others just went for interesting duvets suitable for a dress. I do think for sewing bee they should pick the best of the contestants who apply. There have been some very poor males this time round with very little experience who only seem to have got in because the BBC is more interested in " diversity" than quality. If it's an amateur sewing competition let's see the best amateur sewers

Laura Ingalls lives and breathes
In very very puffy sleeves.

I enjoyed this episode. The coat transformation was impossible to do well though.

The ones that stand out the most for me are Debra , Christian , Annie and Marni. I think Christian will win as he has fantastic ideas and gets a great finish.

They're all fantastic though , being given 4 hours and 90 odd pieces of tiny fabric is nuts!

They all post regularly on Instagram if anyone is interested. The sewing community is so friendly and engaging there.

😂😂😂
I always wonder how folks get them inside cardis and coats. Although Brogan did make a puff sleeved jacket.

I think a lot of the challenges for this season have been following current fashion trends (more so than in previous years) such as the quilted jackets, the puffs sleeves and the shirring so Brogan being a 20 (30?)-something has done well because that's her style too. She's clearly very good at sewing and executing those design briefs as well so fair play to her, she deserves to go far.

Debras style is growing on me. It's pared down and tailored with a bit of an edge. I hope Man Yee just had a bad week as I like her ideas. I've noticed from both last and this week that her model has a bit of a slouch and I wish she'd stand up a bit straighter to sell the outfits more.

My favourite maxi dress was Annie's. I liked how she used the crochet lace and the pattern was wearable, she had a really good week too. I'm not sure about Gill's GOTW, I'm not keen on the pattern but kudos for using a duvet cover straight from the back of the cupboard!

All in all there were really good designs in the made to measure. There were a few that were a bit too long though. Next week is children's week - my least favourite.

I like Cristian, he’s quiet and doesn’t get much screen time but he achieves a lot. I really liked his maxi-dress.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I love Brogan. Could totally see her floral dress being sold in & Other Stories! Grin

I like her too. I found her really irritating in the first episode but she's grown on me. I think she has a great sense of humour and can laugh at herself and the puff sleeves.

hideous as her dress was, I am sure I've seen similar worn by "celebrities" in the tabloids 🤷🏻‍♀️

Brogan really getting on my nerves with the cutesy frilly stuff. Her maxi dress this week was really awful (in my opinion!)

She's very cottagecore isn't she? And her voice is like Minnie Mouse!

I really hated Gill's.

Has anyone noticed how much more handsy Patrick is this year? Usually he avoids touching models but this year he is all for it.

Yes, I noticed. He can be handsy with me any time he likes 😂!

Brogan is a secondary school teacher, I would never have guessed that.

The standard is really high this year, I really don't know who'll go out next, I like them all!

I keep being on catch up this year which is annoying!

I'm afraid to say that I absolutely love Brogan! I love her clothes, and her quirky style, she's a fantastic sewer. I'm not entirely sure how nice of a person she actually is, her 'with a ruler' comment seemed quite barbed.

I also really love Annie, her style is just fab, and Marni who is much better than she thinks she is.

All in all, thoroughly enjoying this season!

"With a ruler" made me laugh 😂 I fully expect she explained afterwards and it wa s edited out.

I must have missed that. What did she say?

Someone (Steve?) asked how she was measuring the lines for the quilting on her jacket and she immediately replied "with a ruler"

Sounds like a reasonable response to me.

It is a reasonable response.

But you get the feeling that quite a few of the others would have gone across to help or explain.

I know it is a competition but others have more camaraderie going on. It is what I love about the Bee.

Unless there was a snippy edit, ‘with a ruler’ doesn’t smack of the usual helpfulness.

Oh, I have plenty of colleagues like her. Cottage Core is a popular look in our English department.

I suppose it would have depended on the tone of voice (which I missed) but could have been taken out of context. I follow Clare, the 2020 winner, on Instagram and she can be quite snippy with some of the questions people ask.

Indeed - it may well have been edited or the tone of it floated by me.

They seem happy enough to show others being helpful though. And I do think others would have been more forthcoming. If she did help then I wish they’d shown it.

I said above that the lass is not always shown favourably. It may be because she has ticked off someone in the editing suite or it may be unfortunate or it may be because there is nothing favourable to show. Who knows? 🤷‍♀️

There is no doubt the woman can sew. She’s amazing at that.

i might be odd but I love seeing folk down tools to help someone else. It is what these sort of programmes are about for me. The love of it all.

if I just wanted to watch someone being a great sewer, I’d go and sit in my neighbour’s house.

I think I’d be told ‘with a ruler’ or somesuch there too though! 🥴

I agree it is the helpfulness and camaraderie between contestants that makes this programme so enjoyable. I'm obviously just not very observant.

I also hadn't noticed Patrick being handsy - I must pay more attention next week.
