Wednesday 27th April, 9pm, BBC 1.

I'll be away for weeks 2&3 which is unfortunate.

I do have the horrible feeling that they might keep Steve over Man Yee.

littlbrowndog · 18/05/2022 21:54

I like Steve’s as well. Though perhaps a bit nightdress

MinglingFlamingo · 18/05/2022 21:54

I would wear Angela's dress !

I like Man Yee's. I like the proportion of bold pattern to block colour

I like Steve's . Again like the pattern and style

Jellykat · 18/05/2022 21:55

Oookaaay to GOTW, not my choice but hey ho

dillite · 18/05/2022 21:56

I really hated Gill's.

Has anyone noticed how much more handsy Patrick is this year? Usually he avoids touching models but this year he is all for it.

SoupDragon · 18/05/2022 21:56

These are all really good given they are from Duvets.

phew! he's the right choice to go.

Piggywaspushed · 18/05/2022 21:56

Yuck to Jill's dress. Sorry.

littlbrowndog · 18/05/2022 21:56

Och Steve 👋👋👋

smilesy · 18/05/2022 21:56

I wonder if Brogan will ever sew something that is not really cutesy? It would
be interesting to see how she’s get on with some pleather or something 😂

Men's week will be interesting

Jellykat · 18/05/2022 21:57

Well done Steve considering hes only just started sewing

Roussette · 18/05/2022 21:57

I haven't agreed with a GOTW yet.

But it does look better on than off

SoupDragon · 18/05/2022 21:58

😂😂

can't wait!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 18/05/2022 22:01

Oooh, I can do something that hardly any of them can do, I can mitre a corner. It's a quilter thing.

Bagadverts · 18/05/2022 22:04

Maybe in future will see people who started in lockdown go further with a few years experience. Seems a bit strange to apply after just a year sewing to a national competition. I wonder if the producers actively recruited/chose those new to sewing?

Its amazing isn't it!! I think you just adapt! Because it's all you've ever known. Like Bryony in Bake off a couple of series ago. Baking is another two handed job. Especially with intricate decorations and hot equipment and things

My dd was born without her hand and really there is almost nothing she can't do. She's never going to be brilliant at the flute, for example, although she's grade 7 trumpet.
It's not like you missing your hand and being used to using both. Also the little arm is useful in holding etc.
DD can knit and sew just fine-and also do plenty of other things that you would think impossible with one hand. She was dressing herself, including fastenings, and socks by 20 months. Determination and not thinking she can't do it.

DD fights against being "the one handed girl" (ie nameless, but defined by her missing hand) and having "how on earth do you do xyz with one hand?" is incredibly boring as is the question "how did you lose your hand?" I'm sure Gill wants to be judged on merit rather than "oh doesn't she do well considering".

SoupDragon · 19/05/2022 07:35

I think that the only time it's been mentioned is when Gill herself said how useful it was for attaching cuffs.

it's not something I would ever say to a person but I would be quietly amazed at how adaptable humans are.

stimpyyouidiot · 19/05/2022 09:14

Brogan really getting on my nerves with the cutesy frilly stuff. Her maxi dress this week was really awful (in my opinion!)

Debra seems to get less airtime then the others.

This is something I've really noticed, because it focuses on all of the younger women, or anyone having a disaster but then Debra comes through and then wins GOTW despite no screen time at all.

SoupDragon · 19/05/2022 09:37

I think Debra is possibly just quietly and confidently getting on with her sewing and this doesn't make good TV. Maybe she isn't as relaxed talking to the camera too.

Yes I imagine so, and she doesn't seem to make many mistakes etc so just gets overlooked

SoupDragon · 19/05/2022 10:53

I wonder if her screen time isn't as memorable as she's quietly calm... if I think about it, I can definitely remember her being on screen a reasonable amount.

CaptainMyCaptain · 19/05/2022 11:11

I'm watching now. I quite like the quilted jackets. I do a bit of quilting although I've never made clothes but I would be inclined to quilt it first before cutting out the shapes as it tends to 'shrink' slightly when you do this maybe they allowed for this in the pattern.

I have used duvet covers for clothing though.

This might have made the job easier.
