Wednesday 27th April, 9pm, BBC 1.

I'll be away for weeks 2&3 which is unfortunate.

I would have sent Richy home. I don't like his aesthetic.

Very sad, poor Flo Jo. Her record remains unbeaten.

I'm ashamed to say I had no idea about the back story here until this thread. I just looked it up. Poor woman.

Maireas · 04/05/2022 22:06

Chichi?! It should have been Richie.

2Rebecca · 04/05/2022 22:18

I thought Richie should have gone. All of his were dreadful today. I thought doing trainers was interesting

2Rebecca · 04/05/2022 22:19

Agree islets require strength though so maybe have a special person putting them in and the sewers just mark where they go

TheMooch · 04/05/2022 22:32

Marnie's final sports outfit was beautiful.
(But for reason she gives me the itch. I need to overcome this as she is a final contender)

I agree. She is a tad cocky and I found Esme's comments on her being the best thing since sliced bread... a bit much on week 2. It's like she's being set up to win.

SoupDragon · 05/05/2022 07:27

I agree about the eyelets. The women were at a disadvantage there (generally speaking!) I struggle with the hand strength to put them in. I hope someone helped Gill, although I appreciate she might not have wanted help. I did smile at her using her missing arm as a cuff making tool.

SoupDragon · 05/05/2022 07:31

Ricky and Steve are the two left from my "bottom of the pack" contestants I picked at the beginning of the show. I tend not to mind which order they are picked off in.

Man Yee, Marnie, Brogan are my current final picks. They seem to be consistently good.

Maireas · 05/05/2022 07:31

I thought sports week was quite a tricky theme for week 2. Or maybe it's because sport is a bit of an anathema to me.

MirandaWest · 05/05/2022 11:09

DD and I watched it - we were ready an hour too early though 😃

I thought Richie could have been the one to go. And we were also irrationally annoyed by Marnie.

Chichi?! It should have been Richie.

Just caught up and feeling this.

Why did he not go? (I admit that my memory is shocking and at this stage there's so many contestants I can't recall who did what in the early stages!!

SoupDragon · 05/05/2022 18:42

I wonder if it was because ChiChi's jacket was poorly sewn (eg the missing sleeve was just not added on, there was no finishing or styling to make it look deliberate). I know Richy's didn't fit but I think it was sewn better.

I can't remember how they compared on the other challenges.

I think they were both much of a muchness tbh. I wouldn't expect Richy to last much longer.

Cuck00soup · 05/05/2022 21:13

I really want to have a go at making trainers now. I'm also 100% certain they'd never be worn.

The second week esme has mentioned knickers !! She comes across as batty old lady sometimes !

Cuck00soup · 06/05/2022 09:10

@CaptainMyCaptain OMG you are a genius. I might just have to give it a go! Thank you so much.

Ah, shes not a "batty old woman". Two dresses were made ridiculously short. She mentioned that both times with a remark that's a fairly standard about wearing short skirts (well that or make out it's a belt).

Apologies. Wrong thread and I've reported it.

At least we can tell Richy's is Tom Daley. Some of them are rather tenuous.

I was fully expecting Richie's sporting hero to be WG Grace...

TigerLilyTail · 06/05/2022 13:57

I thought Marni's jacket looked great. She did a fantastic job with it.

I think ChiChi's did look terrible. The weird badly sewn on patches of colour didn't work at all, but Richie's was the wrong size, even though not as poorly made.

SoupDragon · 06/05/2022 14:59

Esme is absolutely not a "batty old lady".

midsomermurderess · 06/05/2022 15:07

@SoupDragon , too right she's not! What berk said that?

Esme is not a batty old woman. What ageist, misogynist nonsense. She's experienced, sharp, knowledgeable and entertaining. It's lovely to have an older woman on prime time TV, and an expert at that.
