Thanks for the updates, Jane. I've been rubbish this week. I'm hoping to get to watch Rafa's Return (he could face 'lover of clay' Bublik or Kecmanovic in his first match- Kecmanovic has been playing well lately, could be tricky.

I'm hoping Djok is still rusty. Or 'ill'. Or what ever the latest excuse is when he loses.

Murray is up against Domi tomorrow night. I'm Team Thiem, sorry not sorry and it's tough anyway, because the winner plays Shapo or Humbert. Denis hasn't had the best results since his semi final match in Dubai, but he's still got to be favourite there. Ugo has had a pretty rubbish year, really, so I expect Denis to win their match.
But what do I know?

Morning all- looks sunny in Madrid, although there is currently a very annoying shadow across the court where ADF is about to play Lloyd Harris. No doubt Djok will find that something to moan about (wrong kind of shadows ) though most of his matches will probably be scheduled for when the sun has moved over.

Not many spectators there, which is a shame.

Happy to report that ADF is wearing odd socks.

Looking forward to seeing Andy and Dom later - should be an interesting one - I don’t really mind who wins that one - think they both deserve a bit of a break

someone (not DH) has won the R5 Wimbledon completion - the answer was blazing forehand (in case anyone is interested ) - I guessed the answer but they didn’t phone me up!

looking forward to seeing Rafa this week - not sure if he’ll be playing tomorrow or Wednesday? I think he might have had his hair cut a bit shorter looking at recent photos? Hopefully that will stop the dandelion clock effect (poor Rafa!)

It’s strange that there aren’t many spectators - that seems to happen at quite a few tournaments in the early rounds. Makes me want to hop on a plane to Madrid to watch the tennis (maybe one day!)

Apparently ADF has set up an animal sanctuary so he’s a good human person (still don’t understand the odd socks thing though)

I think it's definitely time Rafa found a decent hairdresser. Poor Rafa.

It is funny, after all the fuss about no spectators and Covid- than when people do have the chance to maybe go and see a major event- very few turn up!

I read about the animal charity thing recently- and I wondered if maybe the socks were anything to do with that. (clutches straws).
