It is good but quite odd as the casting is strangely similar to the film version, ie they all look and sound very alike.

OP posts:

aplogies for vastly dropping the literary tone]

ruty · 09/01/2008 12:52

apologies even

onebatmother · 09/01/2008 12:58

( very small tights for my very small hind legs ruty. They set my broad wingspan off a treat.)

You can do it! You can write best screenplay! put dcs on ebay and do it!

Swedes2Turnips1 · 09/01/2008 13:08

Onbat - He (with the 2:2) went on to be a very great success in his choice of woman, eventually anyway. That is, after 10 years married to a woman with a very big nose and about 3 Firsts (her snogging can't have been up to much). He is the least ambitious person I know - but manages to keep 6 of us in comfort and joy and work just 3 days a week. He does have the odd short-sleeved shirt though. One with epaulettes which is cause for grave concern. I am going to suggest counselling.

onebatmother · 09/01/2008 13:11

HOW does he manage that? How amazing. Do you have other means of support/inherited Swedish palace/very good mortgate rate?
You can recover from epaulettes, btw. It takes a lot of hard work and commitment from both of you, but it can be done.

Swedes2Turnips1 · 09/01/2008 13:12

Also, he doesn't have a round face a la col Brandon.

onebatmother · 09/01/2008 13:13

swedes did you see it's my 40th next month? I am preparing the doughballs.

onebatmother · 09/01/2008 13:14

Oh Swedes how could you? It's OVAL when squinting!

onebatmother · 09/01/2008 13:15

and marinading them in bitter tears in advance.

Swedes2Turnips1 · 09/01/2008 13:18

LOL at doughballs. What do you plan to do for your birthday? You are not going to make the mistake of waiting for your surprise trip on the Eurostar, are you?

onebatmother · 09/01/2008 13:20

no. we are very very broke.
Oh dear, don't know, I don't enjoy own parties and become very neurotic and over-ambitious in the canape dept.

Swedes2Turnips1 · 09/01/2008 13:22

If I knew your DP, I could convince him that you really wanted to go to Pizza Express, with the batlets. I would even let him pretend it was all his own idea. I might do voluntary waitressing in your local PE that night. How much red wine might you drink before the tears and recriminations start to roll, just so I time my breaks effectively?

ruty · 09/01/2008 13:24

canapes and feminist literary theory. The plot thickens. i'm going to use all this you know.

Swedes, you're keeping very quite about how your dh manages to do only 3 days a week....[nosy git emoticon]

onebatmother · 09/01/2008 13:25

lol! you are very cruel.
Quite a lot before tears, then I usually continue to drink while approaching recriminations. More wine as a prelude to sobbing, a bit more before bed.

onebatmother · 09/01/2008 13:28

yes ruty I am the Feminist with the Mostest round these parts.

Bluestocking · 09/01/2008 13:34

Heated, your Eng Lit colleague is right about symbolism of horse but Marianne would have ridden sidesaddle - riding astride would have been unthinkable for a lady.

Swedes2Turnips1 · 09/01/2008 13:34

Onebat - What are your hopes and fears? What are you reading? What is your favourite word? If you had to shag one, would you shag Prince William or Prince Harry? These are Qs for your 30s. There is only one question that is worth asking on reaching 40 and it concerns canapes. You just don't have the intellectual breadth for it in your 30s.

Swedes2Turnips1 · 09/01/2008 13:37

He's a management consultant.

Swedes2Turnips1 · 09/01/2008 13:38

onebat - I'll throw you a party.

onebatmother · 09/01/2008 13:41

lol and ol again swedes!

Bluestocking, yes of course! I think I remember making same undergraduate mistake as an ..undergraduate!

Though aren't horses sexually symbolic anyway? can be harnessed but essentially untameable?

(did you see that thread recently about dressing up as horses in the bedroom?)

And the hair?

onebatmother · 09/01/2008 13:43

swedes what a lovely thing to say! even in cyberspace!

Nevertheless, slightly disappointed Mr Swedes not highly paid courtes..ano, or prussian with swedish palace decorated in muted paint finishes.

Swedes2Turnips1 · 09/01/2008 13:47

A management consultant, in short sleeved shirt - with epaulettes. It's a burden, let me tell you. But I have my canapes.

onebatmother · 09/01/2008 13:49

yes, thank heavens for crostini with griddled courgette, mint and chilli.
In summer, obv.

onebatmother · 09/01/2008 13:50

presuming he doesn't wear short sleeve/epaulette combo in winter? That would be very bad.

onebatmother · 09/01/2008 13:51

not crostini.. what's that griddled sourdough bread thing, italian, you know. Fresh, not dried out like crostini.
