Been looking forward to this. Great reviews

Sheridan smith plays teacher Jenna whose life is turned upside down when accused of a sexual encounter with a teen pupil Kyle

Drunk when the incident allegedly happened Jenna can’t remember what happened

4 parter, on every night this week

@Meredusoleil oh my mistake, I thought Kyle was meant to be 17. That is a very lenient sentence for what is surely statutory rape of a minor?

CraftyGin · 01/02/2022 22:31

I don't think there was any evidence of sexual intercourse - no forensics, just the CCTV in the lobby.

springydaff · 01/02/2022 22:44

SS breathes a lot doesn't she?!

Yes, lots of hugging and puffing. But with a face that doesn't move - at one point she leaves against a pillar by her front door and was supposed to look very distressed but her face was immobile and her lips just a bit too puffy.

They could have done so much with this drama but haven't, which is disappointing.

blyn72 · 01/02/2022 22:49

I agree it is disappointing, glad it isn't just me who thinks that. I sort of lost the thread this evening, was distracted. Nevertheless I will plough on. Her dad is a bit weird, is he for real and was he joking when he asked about her making a financial contribution?

Papergirl1968 · 01/02/2022 23:01

A lot of very stupid behaviour - getting drunk, pleading guilty, chasing after Kyle from the litter picking...I thought teachers were meant to be bright!

Theblacksheepandme · 01/02/2022 23:49

I don't know why but I don't trust the other teacher Jack.

Mammyloveswine · 02/02/2022 00:36

When she was doing her community service and said "im a sec offender" 😱

Sentence was ridiculous..

Also running after Kyle then saying "i hope i havent ruined intimacy for you" wtf???

PrincessScarlett · 02/02/2022 07:58

I'm starting to think there's more than one person that have set out to ruin her. When Kyle said she wasn't supposed to have pleaded guilty it seemed like someone else had told him how it should all play out.

And her colleagues really don't like her do they, slagging her off and automatically thinking the worst.

BorisBooster · 02/02/2022 08:08

It shows how boundaries need to be maintained so a malicious allegation is soon determined.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 02/02/2022 08:08

i dont trust Nina
and she left her phone at work, well lost it and then found it

MrsLargeEmbodied · 02/02/2022 08:09

and nina went after the same job as her.

@PrincessScarlett

Do you blame them ? Although actually I do. They knew she had issues in her personal behaviour which could affect peoples judgement about keeping herself and children safe but they didn't raise it.

The drama so far is an excellent training aid for teachers in how not to behave.

PrincessScarlett · 02/02/2022 10:41

Oh yes, there is blame on all sides. Jenna has serious issues which are plain to see and none of her colleagues reported their concerns to school or indeed spoke up about the state Jenna was in at the nightclub. Jenna definitely has very blurred boundaries and doesn't know how to keep a professional distance. Even when she's in so much trouble she's still trying to pass notes to Kyle or chasing after him down the street.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/02/2022 11:15

Haven’t read reply’s from 9

Baby blondes is doing her school work off for covid tho fine

So going to try and watch

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 02/02/2022 12:30

She's obviously been had here , it could be any number of suspects , the friend who went with her to the club then left, the male teacher , Nina , the girl that Kyle met up with or another pupil who also fancied him.
She won't be able to teach anymore now.
She should have gone to trial maybe? Although I can see why she didn't.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/02/2022 13:32

Ok. Took a while to watch.

Right so Jenna is stupid

Chasing after Kyle after her sentence when shouldn’t be near him

Sayinto bloke picking up litter I’m a sex offender. Should have explained what happened

Admitting to something she didn’t do or remember

Obviously Kyle set her up

I’m wondering if the bearded bloke teacher. Not sure his name. Is he kyles tutor as well

He said about the messages and urged her to accept/join

I think he has something to do with it

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 02/02/2022 13:35

So the next two I assume are about finding her innocence and getting off offenders register and getting back to teaching

She has a drinking problem

Black outs etc

@Meredusoleil first scene was to show she gets drunk and has sex and can’t rem - I think

Hence when gets accused she thinks did it

I didn’t notice the phone change

OP posts:
butterpuffed · 02/02/2022 14:48

Have I missed a vital part...who reported her, or don't we know yet ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/02/2022 15:05

I thought Kyle did

OP posts:
MyfanwyMontez · 02/02/2022 15:41

I think the headmaster said a source within the school but didn’t say who it was . I could be wrong though.

butterpuffed · 02/02/2022 15:53

Thanks both !

PrincessScarlett · 02/02/2022 16:01

"Source within school" could be anyone couldn't it.

And I don't like the relationship with her dad. It's so toxic.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/02/2022 16:08

Tho the phone message at 4am from Kyle said I’m sorry for what going to happen

Or something like that

So he had to have told someone

OP posts:
drybird · 02/02/2022 16:47

I have a feeling the male teacher 'friend' is connected to the young lad/mum ..

ClariceQuiff · 02/02/2022 17:05

Trying to make sense of 'you weren't supposed to plead guilty':

I was wondering if her ex-teacher dad might have abused someone historically (linked to her mum's suicide) and this is some sort of revenge - but, that doesn't really make sense as why would you not just raise a historical allegation against the dad?

The question is, who would benefit by the case going to a full trial? A rather obvious answer is that there'd be a much greater media furore and therefore money to be made by the victim selling his story (victim is impoverished so there's a motive there). Or, it might be more likely to 'bring the school down' or implicate the headmaster ... all a bit woolly though. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.
