Our Girl Thread 63 "Our Girl Revisited and then what?"

We started to follow "Our Girl" back in 2014 and although there will be no further series, we do revisit from time to time. We have watched all seven series of "Soldier Soldier" to keep up our military terminology and galloped through three series of "The Musketeers". Of course, there is a definite connection between "Our Girl" and "The Musketeers" in the delightful form of Luke Pasqualino. We are now revisiting series 2 of Our Girl and are trying to decide what to watch after that.

A sombre atmosphere for the rest of the lads and Mimi.

Georgie calls Marie.

Oh poor Georgie this one is so personal for her and after Elvis it is almost too much

Rhubarb01 · 13/04/2022 21:29

Kingy comes to tell them the bad news. Georgie has to tell Marie the terrible news. Not sure if that's strictly army protocol, but I suppose this is a bit different.

Ilovelblue · 13/04/2022 21:29

It's hardly any wonder Georgie goes off the rails, is it?

Are you ok, Georgie? Bit of a dumb question.

Ilovelblue · 13/04/2022 21:31

Apart from obviously clearing out my parents' things after they died, I once had to go through a work colleague's desk after he had died unexpectedly and HR couldn't be bothered doing it. Not a great job, especially in full view of the rest of the office.

Was Georgie ever ON the rails

Rhubarb01 · 13/04/2022 21:31

Reminds me again of Molly clearing CJ's stuff.

Rhubarb01 · 13/04/2022 21:31

Poor Lt Hurst. He really needed a bit of a chat with his Dad and gets no help at all.

Ilovelblue · 13/04/2022 21:32

I feel a bit sorry for Lt Hurst, he's had a raw deal and no support from the snotty Brigadier.

Mind you, how convenient he brought his trumpet with him on tour.

Monk is really upset.

Magi84 · 13/04/2022 21:33

Monk is starting to be suspicious of Poya

Rhubarb01 · 13/04/2022 21:34

I think we commented on this last time, that it doesn't really work with Georgie being too short to carry that coffin. She's just holding it for appearances sake.

No way does Lt Hurst play the trumpet that well. Plus that's a bugle playing and he's holding a trumpet with valves!!

Ilovelblue · 13/04/2022 21:34

Not a bad little pad on a newly married squaddie's pay.

OP posts:
eejittwo · 13/04/2022 21:35

Rhu Grin

Magi84 · 13/04/2022 21:35

Georgie's family obviously moved house. More upmarket or what

Ilovelblue · 13/04/2022 21:36

Agreed Rhu There were enough men of roughly equal height to carry the coffin surely.

This is so weird, no Dad and no third sister at the funeral. Surprised Georgie doesn't wear her uniform. Also I'm pretty sure this as well as the funeral which follows were filmed in South Africa.

Now we hear Finger's final words.

Ilovelblue · 13/04/2022 21:38

Don't you think it's Marie's house and Grace was just there for support? I preferred Grace and Max's house to be honest.

OP posts:
Ilovelblue · 13/04/2022 21:39

Monk has taken this really badly.

OP posts:
eejittwo · 13/04/2022 21:39

Talking about Dad, his character in The Last Kingdom was no more likeable.

Magi84 · 13/04/2022 21:40

Yes I think now invisible supposed to be Fingers and Marue's place. Just confused with Ma Lane trotting out to greet Georgie.

Magi84 · 13/04/2022 21:42

What "invisible" has to do with anything beats me. Autocorrect at it's best!!

Rhubarb01 · 13/04/2022 21:42

Bye bye fingers....

Rhubarb01 · 13/04/2022 21:44

Lt Hurst sounds like one of those over enthusiastic management types trotting out rubbish.

Now he gives Monk advice on how to be a better father than the one he has.
