Anyone watched the first episode ? The US Downton Abbey set in New York in 1882.

Everyone keeps calling it the "US Downton" I loved it. I think possibly even more than Downton.

I would if it really was like that then in New York ie Old Money - v - New Money and the snobbery that came with that

Just picked up this thread to say that I am really sad to hear that The Gilded Age has not been renewed for series 3!

I binge watched the 2 series recently and loved it.

I thought they'd confirmed series 3 though

I’ve binge watched both seasons now, and am utterly bereft I’ve finished. I loved it.
My heart sank when I saw a few posts back, that a PP said season 3 not been renewed, but it seems that’s not the case. Phew!

@RosaMoline have a look at the buccaneers on Apple TV if you want a good old USA v British aristocracy yarn.

From memory, Ada got her inheritance from her husband who died and has taken over the household because Agnes lost hers as her son took out a bad investment. Over the road, George Russell’s workers were striking and Bertha wore fabulous clothes. I think she’s trying to marry the daughter off.

I think that the daughter storyline will go down the Consuela Vanderbilt route, she married a duke who was in love with someone else.

Watched the first episode of series 3… was it me or did it seem a bit lacklustre? Hoping for a bit more in the next episode.

I felt it was more of a 'catch up' episode rather than 'new plots' episode.

I don't really remember the bloke that Gladys is in love with, was he there last season?

This is the problem I’m having. I can’t remember some of the details from last time!

Just watched latest episode. Finding it a bit dull and find I’m whizzing through some of the scenes. Hope it picks up a bit.
