When did Bez get a Golden Boot?

It's 20 years since Will Young sang at the Manchester Commonwealth Games closing ceremony. Which means his Pop Idol win was over 20 years ago!

Will won it on 9 th feb 2002 according to wiki , so 20 years ago

I love Will Young as a singer, my friend and I adored him and went to see every tour, then we met him when we watched Cabaret and he was so rude, we were gutted and never went again. I would like to see him on this tour but I have a feeling he will only do new material rather than the older stuff. He is amazing live!

Robobunny is amazing, what a voice. Mark Feehily is a good shout, u had no idea at all!

I at first thought Michael Owen for doughnuts but he seems too confident to be him as MO comes across quote shy.

The other person I thought of for Firework is Jennifer Ellison who has been in Dancing on Ice and Chicago on stage. Some of the other younger soap actresses who've been in DOI must be able to sing as well.

Bez is apparently on Dancing on Ice. Looking forward to that . He's another who is doing the rounds of reality show.

I went off Will when he pulled out of Strictly for unclear reasons - he seemed not to want to put the the effort in at the time.

@the80sweregreat - I had thought Pop Idol ended just before Christmas 2001. I was out by a couple of months!

I’m pretty sure that Firework is Beth Tweddle, based on the clues. DH is equally as certain that Doughnuts is Michael Owen. We don’t know who Robobunny is, but I think he’s superb!

I'd say Robobunny is someone younger than Billy Ray Cyrus. I was thinking Mark from Westlife last week, this week he sounded much more American and reminded me of Josh Groban - can't see him doing this show in the UK though. Similar kind of singing voice, but maybe a higher range?

@chitchatchatter he just had no time for any of the people waiting to meet him at the stage door (there were only about 6 in total). He made no eye contact with anyone and reluctantly signed a couple of autographs and ran to his car. I totally get that people have private lives etc but that is part and parcel of being a performer even if you don't feel like it, especially when they are the people who have bought tickets for your tours etc. I do like to tell myself it was an off day and usually he's lovely but I really was upset by it (sad I know

I think there is a bit of a 'Mandela Effect' with Pop Idol, since subsequent series (and shows like it) spawned a Christmas Number 1 (Christmas number 1 in 2001 was Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman, Somethin' Stupid).

Can Billy Ray Cyrus really sing that well? Or H from Steps? I can't believe either of them are good enough to be RoboBunny.

@PugInTheHouse I can understand why you were disappointed ☹️

I suppose with Michael Owen he doesn't seem like he had the sort of personality to want to be on this show, singing very poorly.

He's very happy go lucky as a football pundit.

The thing is that some people feel able to let themselves go when they're in disguise in a way they wouldn't as themselves.

I think when he was a footballer he was very serious about it, so maybe came across shyer than he does now?

I adore Will Young and can't believe my DP got it before me, even though we watched it on catch up and I think he cheated!

I think Aleesha is too tall to be firework. Firework looks quite short and thick waisted
